Subject: Mayberry 102 & 103?

Does anyone know how things are coming on Neal Brower's followups to the
Mayberry 101 book? I remember that it was projected to be a three volume
series, but I haven't seen anything about the final two.

Thanks,
Raymond

Hi Everyone!!
Thanks to all the nice people that stopped by my Mayberry collectibles table
in Mount Airy this year. My wife and I had a great time and it was so nice to
see everyone again. Let's hope for a few more events to attend in 2003 so we
can all take an extra vacation. The crowds this year were amazing....I think
this was the biggest Mayberry Days ever! Hope to see you all in mid October
too!

Take Care,
Greg and Mira Kelley

OH.....thanks to Phil Bowling for the information on the Mr. Limpet dvd! Sure
hope they release the other titles soon!

I am planning on spending the entire weekend next year at Mayberry Days. I
would like to enter the trivia contest. Can anyone email me and tell me
what kind of things should I know to be able to compete. Also, tell me
which shows I should attend. Which ones do the cast members perform at or
attend? What things should I see or not miss? I am already making my
plans now!!

>>>Hey Paul, I thought I read somewhere that none of the Mayberry folks ever
appeared on any cereal boxes? What gives? Aunt Bee of Orlando

The Barney Fife Wheaties box I'm selling is one I that I made myself. I've
got extras, so if anybody would like to buy one without going through eBay,
send me an email and we'll talk about it. The price will be based on the
final bid on eBay (I expect it to go for around $40). The Barney Wheaties
boxes that were circulating about six or seven years ago were also
fan-produced "fakes," though I have encountered people who "remembered
seeing them in the grocery store years ago."

There have been a couple of real cereal boxes with TAGS folks on them. Back
around 1961, Andy appeared in uniform on the back of a Post Grape Nuts
Flakes box, along with a recipe for Aunt Bee's lemon pie. This box is
extremely scarce today (anybody got one for sale? Let me know!)

I've also seen Jim Nabors on a cereal box, but not in character as Gomer.
He appeared only in an advertisement on the side panel. Seems like it was a
mail-in offer for steak knives or something.

Kelly--
I read the website daily. NEVER heard ANYBODY
talk about TAGS DVDs-- the only mention was by
=> Me! <= that Columbia House only makes DVD-
versions of Collectors' Editions that are at
least half-complete. While Columbia House is
DROPPING(!) many of their "older" series...
SGT BILKO, SUPERMAN, that TV show with Michael
J. Fox-- title escapes me-- but NEWER than TAGS,
there's still only 18 tapes currently available
from Columbia House... though some people got
19 or 20 tapes.
I was told "blah blah blah" which means the tape
descriptions(titles) and actual contents differed.
Didn't matter to me. I wanted them anyway.
Never mind. Order the VHS versions! If EVERYBODY
waits for DVDs... there won't be any more VHS...
won't be any DVDs... ever!
Do --NOT--!---NOT--! hold your breath waiting for
TAGS to come out on "Seasonal Collector's" edi-
tions. THAT only happened to M*A*S*H after sev-
eral years of Columbia House popularity made the
actual owners of the series jump on the band
wagon.
The tapes (TAGS) are GREAT! If you cannot afford
the $20 a tape... go in on a set with a few friends--
get my drift?
If you ARE a TAGS-lover, support the cause!
It's the ONLY way SOME of us can get the unedited
versions of the show! Some of us are balder than "Opie"
and cannot wait TOO much longer!

I remember reading in one of the TAGS tribute books that either Everett or
Jim specifically referring to the Abyssinia (I'll be seeing you)/See you
Samoa exchange, and that when he was in school it was a faddish thing for the
kids to say to each other, similar to "See you later, Alligator"/"After
awhile, Crocodile".

Best wishes to you and yours!!! (:-D

Well, Allan didn't catch my typo mistake in my earlier post regarding Mayberry
Days 2002, this very nice lady e-mailed me and told me about it. No, Mr.
Bullock did not kiss my check, he kissed my ckeek. And I have a message for
all the fans that were at MD 2002, Ms. Betty Lynn phoned Troy and I tonight,
she wanted to make sure we had made it home safe. She aslo wanted me to tell
everyone that she loves you all and to thank you all for being so kind to her.
She and Howard Morris flew back home together on the same flight, and yes, she
said he behaved on the plane. She looks forward to seeing everyone again.
If anyone knows of a squad car that is for sale, please forward our e-mail
address to them. Thanks to Howard Morris, I might get my car, he told my
husband that I needed one. So, I can only hope.
God Bless, Kathy Taylor

Hey Mayberry friends! Yes, MD 2002 was Big! Mayberry Days is filming with
your video camera and having "Floyd" come up, put his hands up beside your
camera so you can see his view. It's walking down the street and Phil
(Ernest T) breaks out in "Old Aunt Maria" and everyone joining in. MD is
cheering for "Bubba" as he gets another answer right in Trivia, and we had
never met "Bubba". It's being in the parade, riding the golf cart,
desguised as a white horse, complete with horse's head, tail, weathervane &
full moon and rider dressed in black for the Curse of the White Horse. It's
making Mr. Cookie Bar wrappers for candy bars & packaging "licorice seeds"
(also known as Good and Plenty) and handing them out to your friends or
receiving two little chairs and an ironing board with an adventure sleeping
tag or an ink pen with your chapter name on them. It's watching TAGS in the
Cinema, laughing, or listening to Neal Brower's lecture and hearing a few
sniffles and of course, more laughter. It's "Goober", his first time being
"Goober" at MD and finding out he, too, is from Ohio! It's "pink Floyd and
the cut-ups"
at Colonel Tim's singing a Mayberry song to the tune of the House of the
Rising Sun. MD is David Browning's endless energy as Barney with the
quickest response to anything and everything! It's Big Maude dancing with
Barney and of course, our head Goober, Jim Clark, trying to stay in the
background but we all know, he does soooo much for TAGS. MD is working with
friends to raise over $2000 for Surry Arts Council. MD is making new
friends, some you find out lives in the next town and some in the next state.

Having the stars at MD is wonderful too, a special treat!

Mayberry Days is, as Maude would say, "A Treasure".

"Remebering Mayberry" Pat
