I'm interested in finding episodes/scenes with "celebrations" in
Mayberry -- both of holidays (such as the Christmas party at the
Courthouse -- that one I've already watched) and of events/anniversaries
(I've been trying to find the story in which there is a fifth or tenth
year party for Barney at the Courthouse). As some of you may recall, I'm
writing a book on leadership/supervision based on the parable of
Mayberry and the exemplar Andy Taylor. I've got the manuscript pretty
well completed and much of it is in editing but this is one of the
several remaining holes. I'll probably be coming back to my friends at
this list-serv in the next two or three weeks for more help -- hope
that's OK. Last time I got some great suggestions about (a) situations
in which Andy is strict, and (b) situations in which Andy does chores he
could have given to Barney. Nonetheless, any more ideas in those areas
will be appreciated, too.

Andy Taylor quotes from Shakespeare's 'Othello' in the TAGS episode 'Guest of
Honor':"Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive."
'Guest of Honor' was part of TAGS' second season. Andy always had a flair for
Shakespeake as evident with his renderings of 'Hamlet' and 'Romeo and Juliet'
on his comedy LPs. In the second season of 'Gomer Pyle USMC', Gomer utters
this same quote to Opie in the "Opie Joins the Marines" episode. All this
Shakespearean Andy talk reminds of the "Only a Rose" episode.
"A rose by any other name. . . . . . . . "

I'd say everyone has pretty well sized up what Mayberry Days is all about.
The stars are wonderful and the show are wonderful. But Mayberry Days has
become a family homecoming to me. Because the friends I see there every year
are now part of my extended family. And I think that warm Mayberry Family
feeling is what will keep me coming back every year until that big owlkeeper
in the sky calls me home. Can't wait for Oct. 16th. See ya'll then .

I had a Mayberry moment today at work. I was in a meeting and
the head honcho was talking about a new account we might be getting.
He said "I dont know what we would do if they called in asking to their
refrigerator fixed, I guess we'd
tell em to call Sears." I couldn't stop myself from saying "Call the Man". Of
course
everyone looked at me kinda strange. I told em it was just a TAGS thing and
not to
worry about me.
