Mr. Foley was indeed married. If you remember when Aunt Bea asked him about
storing her meat and he agreed, she said, "Oh Mr. Foley, if you weren't
already married.......I'd tell my friend."

Congressman Canfield was a bachelor, as was Rev. Tucker and Mr. Wheeler the
handyman. Also, the new preacher in Aunt Bee's Crowning Glory was a bachelor.
How about Bradford Taylor? Probably Mr. Dave, Opie's hobo friend as well. And
Warren? Dud Wash - until Mountain Wedding. Cousin Virgil.......Old Mr.
Perkins and the slumped over teen-age boys?

Subject: Floyd's bachelorhood

I remember that Floyd had a son who played a musical instrument in the show
about the traveling show salesman - the show where Aunt Bea and Emma started
the rumor that he was really a talent scout for a TV show.

And in the one where Andy delivers a baby . . . didn't someone mention that
Floyd's wife had a big stick, but she wouldn't let Floyd bring it as a weapon?
Or was that another character in another episode? Sigh. I don't remember. The
first thing that goes is the mind, you know.

"Hey everybody, Barney Fife is no good." (Shouted by Barney when he got tanked
on the moonshine that Otis had dumped in the crock just before the governor was
due to arrive and shake Barney's hand.)

My mistake. The source for the information about their new cd was on the Great
American Country web page. Check it out.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

A lot of you know I'm a newspaper reporter. I wrote a column that ran in
today's edition of The (Greensboro, N.C.) News & Record I think you all might
like. When I was at Mayberry Days a few weeks ago, I "pitched" the idea of a
new, reality-based "Andy Griffith Show'' to the celebrities in attendance and
got their reactions. See what we all had to say at:

http://www.news-record.com/ae/pantheon/events/personal15.htm

I also was lucky enough to be assigned as the reporter from my paper who gets
to cover the U.S. 52 dedication on Wednesday, so I'll see many of you up
there! I'll send the link to that piece on Thursday.

Here's a link to an article from today's Greensboro News and Record about TAGS
written by one of our own, Amy Wolfford. Amy: Were you by chance inspired by
anything you read here a little over a month ago?

I had a real Mayberry moment while on hold over the phone. The music
playing was good ole' 14A! I kept waiting to hear Barn's solo and was
tempted to burst into song myself! "Welcome Sweet Springtime" - I
wish!!!

P.S. Did you all see Mr. Goss driving a taxi for Ward Cleaver recently?

I don't know the names of all the episodes, but wasn't there mention in
one of the earliest episodes about Art Crowley's Market? That makes yet
a third place to purchase groceries.

After hearing about the song endearing young charms being heard on a bugs
bunny cartoon I just had
to mention that I heard Elyse Keaton (Meredith Baxter Birney) from Family Ties
sing the same song during a fund raiser for her husbands fund raiser at his
TV station the other day. I guess this song gets around.

There used to be a web site that had some songs by a TAGS fan named Dale
Stokes.
He had a song called Mayberry Blues. I was wondering if it is the same song as
the one mentioned
by Brian that Doug Reeves is doing? Also does anyone know if Dale Stokes Songs
are still out there and
what the url is for them? The one song Dale had called "I wanna to live like
Andy" was pretty cool.

much.

How could you get any luckier than to be stranded on a deserted Island with
Mary Ann and Ginger? Most guys just dream of being stranded with one good
looking girl lol.
