In regards to the tomato scene, after Barn throws the tomato, it leaves a
little mess, but when the camera pans back it shows a bigger mess. They
stopped tape and really doctored Otis up. Just one of the many Mayberry
bloopers I enjoy catching that made the show seem that much more natural.

Subject: Goodbye friends

I'm sorry to say that I will have to leave this group. I was working a
temporary 5 month position and today is my last day. I stayed with you as long
as I could, but must now unsubscribe, as I don't have internet on my home
computer. You have been a bright spot in my day, and, though I will probably
never meet any of you in person, you are my friends. Say "Hey" to Andy, Opie,
Aunt Bee, Floyd, Goober, Gomer, Otis, Howard, Thelma, Helen and the rest of the
gang.

Don't ever lose the Mayberry spirit.

Your friend
Mona in KC

Subject: Some of Us Got It... Some of Us Ain't

Last night the "Some of Us Go It... Some of Us Ain't" TAGSRWC Chapter met
for our Halloween meeting and the creative talents of Scott Smith and Jeff
Wilson raised the bar on fun. I thought I would share some of the fun things
that we did so other chapters can get ideas for their own meetings.

We ate hot dogs by the campfire out by the woods in the backyard and then
the chant went out for a ghost story, so I retold the story of the old
hermit and his golden arm. We took the meeting inside the "Smithshaw"
garage, but before the lights were turned on, the music from "The Haunted
House" episode was playing and Scott hit the spotlight on the wall where
Jeff had created a portrait of Old Man Rimshaw (looking right at us). Then,
a floating ax appeared from the ceiling! They had strung up an ax (made from
cardboard and aluminum foil) to a line attached the garage door opener (the
door was unlatched), so when Scott hit the button, the string tracked along
the cable and lowered the ax. What a great effect!

During the course of the meeting we watched "The Haunted House" "Three
Wishes for Opie" and "Divorce Mountain Style" in between playing 3 rounds of
TAGS Pictionary. Scott made up index cards with an episode title and quote.
One person would draw a show title for everyone and the first person to
guess the episode got to go one-on-one for guessing a quote from that show.
If they didn't get it within a minute, the person with the lowest score got
first guess for a 'steal' then it was opened up to everyone. The artist and
correct guesser each got a point, but here is where it gets good. If the
same person got both the episode and the quote correct, they went to the
special TAGS tarrot deck and lay down cards until a match came up, then
consult the book to see how many bonus points the Count granted them.
"Goober, you're familiar with the procedure, if you will please." The images
on the cards were all TAGS related - a goat, bottle of pop, candlestick
phone, Col Harvey's Indian Elixor, hoot owl, etc. Scott glued the images to
pages in an old book and we matched up the pair to the right page and added
1, 2 or 3 points to each person's total.

But it gets better - Sandy (aka S'Ange) ended up as the high score and he
had to go out and "Dig up the proceedings." Scott had buried the prize in
the back yard under a tree. "Shall we get the shovel?" As Sandy was
digging, a crazy owl flew down out of the tree, thanks to Scott stringing a
stuffed owl (upside down of course) to a branch and lowering it down.

Everyone had a great evening thanks to the efforts of Scott and Jeff. As we
all know on the Digest, spending time with TAGS friends is always a good
time.

Jeff
