You guys remember that nice Mr. Finch that sold us those shoes? I saw him
at the Turnip Festival over in Currituck the other day. He still looks the
same and says those 2 days in Mayberry turned his life around. After he
left us, he did so well with his company that he bought a Pic-n-Pay shoe
store over in Winston-Salem. He's retired now, got a little catfish farm
just outside Currituck. Says life is good.

>>>There's one episode where we can clearly hear the voice of the person on
the other end of the phone....
I think this is from "Barney Fife, Realtor."
>>>
I was thinking of a different episode, but that answer is correct, as well
as the one about the Mendelbright sisters' narcoleptic feet.
I should have specified that when I posed the question I was talking about
the COURTHOUSE phone. Steve's answers fit this criterion: Andy saying "Of
course not!" to Barney's question about whether he let Ernest T. out of the
cell, and Mayor Stoner phoning the governor after Barney gave him a ticket
(of course, in that episode, Andy deliberately holds the receiver away from
his ear to let the Mayor listen in).
There's still one more nobody has gotten yet. Hint: it has something to do
with what nearly all of us did Saturday night.

I have to agree with everyone who's said that "Briscoe
declares for Aunt Bea" is one of their favorite episodes.
That one and "Barney's side car" & "mountain wedding" are my
favorites.........."It appears that you're kind of
specializing on me,miss Bea."

I'm sure some of you have seen this, but for those of you who STILL don't get
TVLand on your cable, they are offering a "Mayberry Mania Game" for sale. Not
sure if the questions are more accurate than some of the trivia games in the
past, but it is worth a look:

Hello friends and neighbors,
I believe I may have goofed in my post yesterday about my Kindergartner
going to school happy, and me wanting to play the cymbals in my
jubilation....I said Barney played to The Star Spangled Banner. It was about
four hours after I sent that note when I was sitting at a traffic signal that
all the sudden my error came to mind.....'Twern't The Star Spangled Banner,
was it? Wasn't it "Stars and Stripes Forever"? I'm getting my songs mixed
up.
Re: The Mindlebright sisters
We know that it was Maude and Cora that talked on Sunday afternoons. But
who was Mrs. Mindlebright who kept the boarding house where Barney lived? Was
she either Maude or Cora? Or was she somebody else? I can't remember her
first name. Reckon she was a cousin, or another sister?
Re: Phone conversations
What about the time Barney called Andy in the middle of the night, trying
to convince him that Mayberry needed him to stay as sheriff. Barney had
Goober running around honking the horn and hollering, "whooo, whooo" into the
phone. Do I remember it right that we could hear it across the phone in
Andy's room?
And, by the way, how DO you spell the name of the town that Malcolm
Merriweather was from? Is it really a place, or just a made-up name for the
show?
Thanks.
Y'all have a good'n.
Mark Selby.

Hey folks,
You *MIGHT* want to try shopping at Weaver's Department Store
(http://maybery.com/tagsrwc/weavers/) for your copy of the NEW Mayberry Maina
Trivia Game and support TAGSRWC with your purchase.
As far as the trivia questions go...many of the questions were provided by
WBMUTBB members. Some of you "old timers" will remember WBMUTBB member Scott
Hopkins asking us to send in trivia questions a while back (almost 2 years
ago). Well, this is the game that those questions were for.
Please support TAGSRWC and purchase your games from Weaver's. TAGSRWC uses the
money from Weaver's sales to provide financial support for Mayberry Days and
other Mayberry events.

Rotten Ray...
I'm ashamed...sore ashamed...of course, you were right about my being wrong.
Yes, I remember the Morrison sisters being the moonshiners. I wouldn't
think that my thirty-seven year old mind would be playing these tricks on
me, yet...but...so be it.
Anyway, everybody out there have a great day, and don't forget about Aunt
Bee and her husband.

I don't remember much about those switchboards that were used by the
telephone operators, but do you suppose there was a switch on it that
Sarah was supposed to close & would either forget to close or might
leave open so she could give a listen herself to what was being said in
case there was some juicy gossip. Must have been boring sitting there
all by her lonesome. Just a thought.

**ERROR BY ME**
Hey folks,
If you're a member of the WBMUTBB Prayers & Praises mailing list and
your e-mail address starts with the letter A through "Fra"....you're
gonna have to sign back up. I did a big mistake and removed about 29
subscribers from the P&P list just minutes ago.
To sign up all you need to do is send an e-mail to:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
I guess I should tell a little about what WBMUTBB Prayers & Praises is.
Basically it is a list for WBMUTBB members to share their needs and joys
with one another without it being here on the Digest which really isn't
the place for religious discussions. I created the P&P list so folks
that did want to discuss and share their faith could do so.
For anybody that would like to sign up for the WBMUTBB Prayers &
Praises....just e-mail that same address. I hope you'll join us.
I'm listing all the Mayberry related Mailing list that I run below just
in case somebody would like to sign up and didn't know about 'em.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Trivia time! All of these questions have something to do with Halloween in
Mayberry (some of these have already been covered in the last couple of
days).
1. In which episode is Andy said to be dressed for trick-or-treating?
2. In which episode is Opie said to be dressed for trick-or-treating?
3. In which two episodes is Barney said to be dressed for
trick-or-treating?
4. What is Goober's special job as a deputy each year on Halloween night?
5. What object is a Mayberry ghost said to be continually searching for?
6. Whose spirit was said to be present in the back room of the courthouse?
7. Who is said to have "witchery" in his family?
8. Whom did Barney once arrest on Halloween, and what was the offense?
9. Whose ghost allegedly terrorizes Mayberryites with an axe?
10. If the hot dog vendor in the gold truck episode discarded all of the
meat out of his last frankfurter, what would he be left with?

Howdy!
When I was nine years old, before cable tv arrived to our part of the
country, our town had 4 tv stations, ABC, CBS,NBC and PBS. Then a fifth
station came along! Well this was a surprise and a delight! This station,
Channel 31 (later to become the local FOX affiliate) played "The Andy
Griffith Show" as part of its lineup of reruns. Now up till now, I only
knew Andy Griffith as just a TV actor selling Ritz Crackers ("Gooooood
Cracker") and Don Knotts as the goofy cowboy from Walt Disney's "The Apple
Dumpling Gang." Well, after watching a few episodes, I knew I was a fan for
life! I have seen many episodes and there are still some out there that I
have not seen that come up from time to time. Even still, I have never met
an episode that I did not like to watch over again.
Anyway, just glad to meet with folks who enjoy the same great TV that the
"Andy Griffith Show" is and continues to be! Look forward to meeting some of
the folks!

Iam 47 years old and have been teaching school for 27 years. My son is 17 and
it has been a ritual for us to watch The Andy Griffith Show at 10:00 every
week night on one of our local stations since he was old enough to talk. We
bought the original game and really have had a great time through the years.I
still use the show for remarks, clips, and wise words of wisdom. My husband
and I are planning to come to Mayberry Days one day. That would really be
great!!! It is really amazing to find a teen-ager that knows as much as a lot
of adults do about the show.
