A quick online search shows that it IS a real play, described as a fast and
funny comedy.

Odd facts known by few: Local TV station aired "Up in Barney's Room"
yesterday. A friend of mine who's a big silent movie fan informed me that
Enid Markey, who played Mrs. Mendelbright, played Jane in the first Tarzan
movie in 1918, and had an illustrous career in the silents, and quite a few
talkies, as well.

There was Aunt Bee's "competition" with Clara Edwards/Johnson at the County
Fair.
There was the "jinx" episode where they tried to award the man the
television to prove he wasn't a jinx, but he pulled the label out of his
hat (7 3/4. That's his hat size, Barney said.)
There was Goober's "contest" at the filling station where Floyd won due to
a printer's error and he and Goober got crossways until Andy interceded.
There was the singing "competition" between Barney and Rafe Hollister for
the program run by the Garden Club lady. Another great Andy move to make
Rafe Hollister look good and make the lady and the Mayor look petty.
Other competitions:
Didn't Aunt Bee run for City Council against Howard Sprague?
Didn't Barney run against Andy for Sheriff? And did not Barney run again on
"Return to Mayberry?"
Didn't Otis Campbell "win" when he was Nathan Tibbs' descendant and Mayor
Stoner didn't want him to accept the award, but ANdy made everybody see
things a little more clearly?
Best of luck to you and yours.

Aunt Bee had at least two brothers, actually. There was the one with the
drinking problem, then there had to be Andy's dad. Now, she also did state
she used to cut her brother's hair (most likely a younger brother) but this
brother could have been either of the above.

I believe you had "lentil" soup. I think a lintel is a beam or a stone
structure that spans two columns, but then again, I ain't a chef or an
architect.

Anyways, I never thought about that question before and always thought
that it was a cleverly made up nonsense name for a play, but look what
the Internet Broadway Database has to say

That was Andy's second cousin Todd. Aunt Bee said "Opie's never met his
Uncle Todd," but actually, Todd would have been Opie's second cousin once
removed, not his uncle. Todd travelled the world as a "wiper" on an oil
tanker. When Opie asked why Todd didn't come to America, Andy replied "He
don't want to -- something about a girl in Cleveland, Ohio."

The winner of Colonel Tim's Talent Tim and Bowling was Howard Sprague,
wasn't it? Didn't everyone get offended when he told jokes at the expense of
people in Mayberry? And are you talking about the bowling match where Howard
has a perfect game going up until the very last ball, and the lights go out
in the bowling alley?

Also, Thelma Lou's cousin, Karen Moore, won a skeetshooting contest, a
contest that Andy apparently always won. She never missed a shot. I
understand that the actress who played her (don't remember her name) was a
champion skeet shooter in real life.

Also, Henry Bennett was the jinx that Barney claimed caused the fishing boat
to sink and ruin Andy and Barney's usual good luck at a fishing tournament.

I keep hearing about this pork chop sandwich, and having no idea what it is,
I finally looked it up on the Internet. Maybe some others don't know
either.... A tenderized, batter- dipped, deep-fried pork tenderloin is
served on a bun, along with tomato, onion, mustard, homemade chili and
coleslaw! Yum! Yum! Almost makes me want to hop on a plane right now.
