I am befuddled!! Why is it that in the first episode of TAGS, Barney refers
to Andy as his cousin?
Why did the writers change the script? It did add a comical air to the
first episode. I remember chuckling about the fact that Andy hired his
cousin as deputy. It was "Small town humor".
I have always wondered why that changed. Anyone know the "facts"?
Please let me know.

>>>Odd facts known by few: Local TV station aired "Up in Barney's Room"
yesterday. A friend of mine who's a big silent movie fan informed me that
Enid Markey, who played Mrs. Mendelbright, played Jane in the first Tarzan
movie in 1918, and had an illustrous career in the silents, and quite a few
talkies, as well.
>>>
As far as I know, Enid Markey's portrayal of Jane was the earliest screen
role of any actor who would later appear on TAGS. Can anybody come up with
anything earlier? The oldest cast members include Cheerio Meredith (Emma
Watson, b 1890), Andy Clyde (Frank Myers, b 1892), Will Wright (the first
Ben Weaver, b 1894), Burt Mustin (Judd, b 1884), and Dick Elliott (Mayor
Pike, b 1886) but I don't believe any of them appeared in a film prior to
1918.

Yeah, Mary, but I bet that one don't compare to the one you can get at the
Snappy Lunch in Mt. Airy. I can tell you from experience, it is GOOOOOOOD.

There was the race between Opie and Cynthia to see who could get to the tree
first.
Also there was the Mayberry/Mt. Pilot baseball game (Win one for the old
Goober) where Andy missed the call with Opie sliding into home plate. How
about the fight between Ernest T. and Malcolm Merriweather? The fight between
Andy and Clarence Earp? (Although perhaps the last two never really happened)
