Hey,

I was reading the lists of sports and nobody mentioned when Goober grew his
beard while he was on a "hunting trip".

Just thought I would put my 2 cents in.

>>> ... Here's what I think he says. "Boy, isn't that the way it goes.
Police Departments are the most
underfunded in the country but its 'Thank you Johnny Shafto' when the
bullets start coming."

I think the actual quote is more like "It's always the same story. Police
Departments are the lowest-budgeted underdogs of them all, but it's 'Thank
you, Johnny Shafto' when the guns begin to shoot.' " Barney may have been
paraphrasing Rudyard Kipling's "Tommy," which contains the following
couplet:

For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.

I still haven't figured out who Johhny Shafto is. Maybe Barney was thinking
of the old nursery rhyme about Bobby Shafto?

I can't believe the most important sport of all in Mayberry was not on the
list. It has to be fishing. Old Sam must be feeling really bad not being
mentioned. Also don't forget about the time they talked about killing carps
and the newspaper woman left in a huff.

Greetings to all,
I have seen a couple of questions posted that
seem to fall under the banner of "Too tough trivia"

 1. In a few episodes a door is located by
cell # 2....Where does that door lead to?

2. What episode did Barney first refer to Andy
Ang?....

For those of you lucky enough to have several
episodes on tape your wisdom and knowledge
will be needed here...hope a "Too tough tivia
buff" can help....
Thanks in advance

The maddest I've ever seen Aunt Bee was when the county wanted to take over
Mr. Frisbie's land. Remember? Aunt Bee and Andy weren't speaking for a while
and Aunt Bee told Andy that he would back whatever viewpoint benefitted him -
" whatever side your bread is buttered on!" Attacking Andy's character was
probably the meanest Aunt Bee was to anyone - even Clara! They did a good job
showing her hot buttons. I bet Andy thought twice before he argued with her
about government versus individual rights!

If only Mr. Frisbie had been worthy of Aunt Bee's rightious indignation!

" ...he's got enough sour mash to keep them chickens sozzled from now until
doomsday!"

Subject: The Statue

I believe the statue should be plain and simple, Andy and Opie. These
figures would be most representative of the main theme of the program
and easily recognized and remembered by all viewers. Just seeing them
with fishing poles and walking together would bring to mind the theme
song and the many pleasant memories.
