My wife and I were involved in what could have been a serious accident in Garrison, Texas last week. All were ok but our car was totaled. The good people of Garrison offered us rides and even a place to sleep in their homes--no motels as it is a very small East Texas town. But we rode back to a larger town with our car in the tow truck. Next day I tried to call the police department in Garrison to check on the other driver's insurance. No answer. I called back a couple of hours later. No answer. Tried the city hall. No answer. Told my wife that it must be like Mayberry and if Andy and Barney are both out, no one catches the phone unless Goober is given the job. (actually the cell phone operator gave us a bad number) We got our rental car and continued our trip and stopped by the Garrison PD to check on things. Walked in and what did the chief have on the wall by his desk but the photo of Barney loading his gun. Then when we thanked him for all the help and complimented his townspeople for their concern the night before, he told us they were just small town folks--kind of like Mayberry. Perfect!!!
