Not sure why "Aunt Lucy" was dropped, but remember Aunt Bee didn't arrive until the first regular episode in October 1960, so that wouldn't have been her fixing up the jail and fixing the dinners. ***While watching Return To Mayberry I noticed the terrible attempt to create Aunt Bee's voice. I was wondering why they wrote her out of the movie. If I am right the movie was made in 1986 and she died in 1989 I believe. **** Frances Bavier just didn't want to do it, apparently. She supposedly was all set then rejected her script because it included the word "underwear." According to the store, she claimed she never said it out loud before and wasn't going to start now, despite an early TAGS episode where Aunt Bee clearly says that word (in fact, almost that exact line).
