I spent a delightful evening last night sharing my love for Mayberry at the
Fall Creek Public Library in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. A nice gathering of old
friends from the town where I taught for 30 years came together to hear me
speak about Mayberry. I have made a DVD which contains 44 pictures and
references to Mayberry, most of them showing pictures of my visits to the
Taylor Home Inn and also my personal collection of Mayberry memorabilia.
This morning I did another similar presentation at Trinity Lutheran Church
in Eau Claire. About 35 retired seniors gathered to once again hear about
Mayberry. It was another wonderful experience for me. It is such a joy to
talk about all the great people and moments that Mayberry has brought to our
lives. So many people out there have been touched by TAGS down through the
years, and isn't it great that technology has allowed Mayberry to live on
for generations to come. There must be an aura that surrounds me because
from my talk this morning I went straight to the hospital where I volunteer
three days a week. I walked in the door and one of the hospital employees
greeted me with "Hi Barney!" I got up to the next floor and another
employed welcomed me with "How's Barney today!" I hadn't even taken my coat
off yet so they did not know I was wearing my Barney necktie and Barney
wristwatch. It must be the Mayberry spirit that follows me everywhere I
go.
