This thread reminds me of a song by an Americana singer, Kate Campbell (who
happens to be a friend of mine). Check out
http://www.katecampbell.com/discography.html then click on the lyrics of
"Visions of Plenty" and scroll down to "Funeral Food." If you love
Mayberry, it'll make you smile. And check out the rest of Kate while
you're there. She's purt'near good as Jim Lindsay.

I've seen "Yours, Mine and Ours". It is very funny. Lucy does a drunk scene
that would have made Otis' day.

Hey Mayberrians:
Just purchased the 1st season DVD and am elated! The
visual quality is superb- actually unbelievable! So
many details un-noticeable on the TV broadcast and
tapes! And completely unedited. We know the lines just
about by heart, yet are astounded and turn to one
another saying, "I never heard that line before!".
Please go out and buy it so the other seasons will be
produced! It's an obligation all tags member are bound
by.

Hello Fellow Mayberrians!
Thought I'd relate a bit of a Mayberry Moment to you...
On Sunday night, I was afflicted with a terribly violent stomach bug that's
plaguing East Tennessee. To quote Gomer, I was "sick as a dog," but I was
definitely not having the time of my life like he was on the Sunday afternoon
drive in Barney's car. There's a bright side to everything, they say, and the
bright spot for me was that I got to spend some couch time watching Matlock on
TV. Part way through the show, the main suspect claimed that the former
housekeeper was a kleptomaniac. He then asked Andy, ...er, Ben if he knew what
that is. Matlock grinned a little in his typical Andy way, said he knew what
it was, and then said, "I used to know a fellow who pronounced it,
'kleptomenerack'." Well don't you just know that made me feel better right
away?
Doesn't it seem that just when we need a little moment of Mayberry, it
magically appears? Maybe that's what made me feel so much better so soon.
Keep a good thought.

I often wondered if Opie and Ernest T could have a common ancestor seeing as
they both like to throw rocks.
Fortunately for Andy, Opie threw his rocks into the water and not windows.
Also Opie was not a very good aim, as we found out when he threw apples at
the street light.
Actually, throwing things seems to be a rather common trait among
Mayberryites. Old Jud threw checkers, the Boones threw cups and saucers at
each other, Opie's friend threw a football and broke Aunt Bee's rose, Andy
threw a "no hit " game in high school, which he lost, Andy threw a rock at a
can to help Barney catch the escaped crook, Malcolm threw a mean right punch
when he was going to fight Ernest T, Aunt Bee threw water all over Otis at
the rock, and on another occasion she threw a water pan out of her bedroom
window which landed on Otis, and both Andy and Barney threw the "fun girls"
into jail when they came to town one night.

The TAGS pilot on the DANNY THOMAS DVDs is edited, cut by approximately
3-1/2 minutes. Missing is the scene between Andy and Will Wright. Mr.
Wright, the future "Ben Weaver," plays the man who rented the burial suit to
Henrietta Perkins (Frances Bavier).
If you ever want to see the uncut version of that episode, it was included
on one of several VHS THOMAS tapes released about 10 years ago. TAGSRWC's
Weaver's Dept. Store carried the this particular tape at one time. It may
take some doing, but you may be able to track down a copy.

That particular JACK BENNY PROGRAM is one of many public domain JB episodes
(most are '50 kinescopes, but there are also a few '60s film episodes).
It's shown up on many VHS and DVD pd collections over the years... but the
best one to date is a 5-disc collection from Madacy, with 24 pd BENNY
episodes. Just released in December 2004, it's available at Best Buy and
many on-line sellers too.

Much like my namesake who worked at the diner and at Wally's, I also
work two jobs. My second job, I work for a department store, and they
have recently granted me the dubious honor of being on the short list
of people who can lock the doors and gate at night. The key is kept on
a big ring, and as I passed a terminal the other night, one of the
clerks called out "Hey, Otis!" Of course I got it and just cracked up!

Dang, all this sudden cold weather has got down in my bones and caused my
versitus to flare up. If I don't find my Miracle Salve, I'm going to be
down in my back for sure.
