I may be late to the conversation. But if you were re-casting TAGS, who would
play Miss Crump and why?

Hi fans,
Thanks for the responses on the lyrics on Toot tootsie!!
I was thinking about some stars still alive today
as characters....
Barbra Billingsley as Emma Watson
Sid Ceaser as the older guy who plays checkers at the mayberry hotel
Dabs greer as Mayor Stoner
Helen hunt as Ellie Walker
Meg Ryan as Helen Crump
Robin Williama as Barney Fife
Joey Bishop as Emmet
Bob Newhart as Otis Campbell
Dick van Dyke as Briscoe Darling
And who knows maybe....
me as the new crossing guard... giving Barney more time to devote to
police work?
I like it and maybe we can cast some of you all too...
Losta luck to you and YERS,
Erin

Jeff's got it right, but that's just the chorus. Here's how the verse goes
(as sung by Brent Spiner on his CD "Old Yellow Eyes is Back")
Yesterday I heard a lover sigh,
"Goodbye! Oh me, oh my!"
Seven times he got aboard his train,
And seven times he hurried back
To kiss his love again, and tell her...
(chorus)
I guess the "toot toot" is the sound of the train whistle, as the train
prepares to pull out (or maybe the guy just stammers).

(original message follows)
Toot, Toot, Tootsie goodbye,
Toot, Toot, Tootsie don't cry.
The choo-choo train that takes me away from you,
no words can tell how sad it makes me.
Kiss me, Tootsie, and then
I'll do it over again.
Watch for the mail,
I'll never fail,
if you don't get a letter
then you'll know I'm in jail.
Toot, Toot, Tootsie don't cry,
Toot, Toot, Tootsie goodbye!

I sure hate I missed that special. "Your Show of Shows" is said to be one of
the funniest shows in television history, and had writers like Carl Reiner,
Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, Neil Simon and Larry Gelbart. And Howard Morris was a
regular.

Kim,
I like your ideas! How about Fran Drescher as Daphne? She's the only one I
can think of with a voice that could do "Hello Doll" justice!

Thanks to everyone for making suggestions for current
actors to play the roles of our beloved Mayberry
characters in MAYBERRY: THE MOVIE. Kathy Bates as Aunt
Bea is an excellent choice.
Thanks!

After I was so happy with Oprah, a friend suggested Tyne Daly. In my mind she
can do anything, so now I'm torn.
