Did anyone find out what the name is of the actor who played Mr. Schwump?
He is one of my favorite Mayberry citizens.
Also, did I hear Aunt Bee call Clara Edwards Bertha in an early episode?

howdy to all fellow mayberians, let me say it is a disgrace when Hollywood
tries to remake anything of the golden era of TV ( hence the 60's & 70's) my
era, I am 43 & a huge fan of real good moral TV, & comedy, & like when hullywud
remade the Beverly hillbillies, it was a shame to see the 90's characters do
something the 60's characters would never do, what is wrong with people that
think they have to include vulgar stuff when everything in Mayberry went right
along nicely thank you with out a single ugly word said. cloris leechman should
have been well you know, when the directors of the remake of BH told her to
give the California howdy to somebody,
this get my dander up in a heart beat, lets look at other remakes & see for
yourself,
I think maybe if, & only IF Andy moved to CA for a possible remake, MAYBE HE
CAN KEEP WRAPS ON THE WAY IT is put together to preserve the original,
I beg you to keep it pure, & maybe like the immortal word of the late Mr.
Carson, said when ask to come back for this project or that one, & he is
reportedly to of said that he would just let the work speak for itself,& it
has, as with the TAGS.
so let review quickly
the nutty professor-not the jerry Lewis version-totally stupid
the Beverly hillbillies-disgraceful
The Adams family-did not have the quality to me & was a sham
of course fellow mayberrians this is only 1 man opion---mine
can we see & or name other failures of hullywood, & fellows the worst of all
they almost, almost I said broke up Andy & Helen. is this not wrong people
the best love story since well maybe Romeo & Juliet
well people I got to go , I 'm planning on waiting at the jail till Otis shows
up , turning out the light & going home
Ya know church is tomorrow.
people I know this Is long & I am sorry, but I had to .
with love from hootersville as ms Douglas always called it(on GA)

humm! & besides he could bring the medical supplies, to the set everyday
another thought on Otis, like Otis was not a drinker the guy from the era
well the name escapes me wait foster brooks , is that the name I'm looking for
see ya in Mayberry

>(I really wanted him to be cast as the new Willie Wonka in the remake of
>"Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," but they went with that young
>Pirate, Johnny Depp.)
That just gave me an idea...what about Johnny Depp as Barney Fife? Look at him
in "Ed Wood" and tell me what you think.
Love the other choices of Chris Kattan as Ernest T. Bass, John Goodman as
Briscoe Darling, and John Cleese as Malcolm Merriwether.
As long as we're selecting a cast, we need to figure out a few more things.
1. Who's going to write/direct? I nominate Joel and Ethan Coen, the guys who
gave us "Raising Arizona" and "O Brother Where Art Thou?" They're great at
small town, non-condescending character humor. (Why dump all this in Ron
Howard's lap? Let's save him for a cameo and let him get back to work.)
2. What's the plot going to be? We want something to sustain a whole movie
but still remind us of our favorite moments. Obviously we don't want a spoof
like "The Brady Bunch Movie" or "Starsky & Hutch," just a creative re-telling
like "The Fugitive" or "The Addams Family." Do we want this set in 2005 or
1961 (the latter is my choice)?
3. What cameo roles can we give original cast members? I nominate Ron Howard
as newspaper editor (and Clint as one of his reporters), and Wally can turn out
to be played by either Jim Nabors or George Lindsey. And the two old men
playing checkers on the hotel porch can turn out in the final scene to
be...Andy Griffith and Don Knotts, commenting on how nothing ever changes
around Mayberry.
Oh by the way, who's going to play Howard Sprague?
Dixon

Oops, the Mayberry movie needs an inspiration of it's becoming. So here it is.
For about fifteen years I've been a country western dancer (I'm good too) but
I've reached the point where I'm totally fed up with the lack of morals that
I've
experienced in these establishments. A beautiful young female bar tender comes
along, we fall in love and it's time to make a difference in this world. We
discuss
the idea of restoring moral values across America, we agree to use Mt. Airy as
the base station to accomplish the job, so off we go to Mayberry.
Another idea is that when Don And Andy see me on the platform, Jack Allison is
near
by, he looks at Don and Andy and says, "I didn't write this episode."
