at least I'm not just a rambling fool., yes I would love to see the project,
but to do it & keep the interegrity would be another deal, even with Mr.
Griffith as ram rod, because we live in A different world today, & if you'd did
not put something new in it per say the new people them born after the
original would not watch. so you'd only have a very small group of loyal fan
from the old, I say lets just dream, let it live, in other words lets, "nip
this in the bud"
maybe if like the passion of the Christ where 1 guy put up his own money & had
total say so would be the only way , & maybe even filmed on location,
as far as dream cast members, & Andy & Barn were giving earnest T instructions
living or dead
how many people
there are questions that have to be addressed.
thanks again for your support

I agree that it would be hard to do a movie without the originals, but I
am having a BLAST reading all the suggestions. I have a few of my own.
How about Dan Aykroyd as Andy? He has experience as a police officer
(Dragnet) and driving a police car fast(The Blues Brothers) and could
play the part as good as anyone except Andy. Also, how about Ben Stiller
as Howard Sprague?
Also, the movie would have to be in black and white.

I've been on the lamb.. I escaped due to a PC crash. I'm back at the
big house. now. In stir. Aw well. Now I like that idea of Mikes.
Hey Ray just calm down or you'll have a spell .
Just havin' a bit of fun with a Mayberry in the 21st. century.
Paul. I lost your info . So sorry.
How about Dennis Quaid as Andy. I think Doug E Doug would be a
great Barney. Definitly Coen Brothers as directers.
Uh oh time for shakedown Forever yours@ the Big House

Very observant Kelley, and no, you are not nuts. Ambient street noises were
the norm while filming was going on at 40 acres. If you look at the aerial
photo on http://www.radoknews.com/andy-griffith-show.html how close the
real side streets were to "downtown Mayberry". I recently visited the site
and I would estimate the Mayberry Courthouse was less than 150 feet from
Higuera Ave. There are a few scenes of the area behind the Courthouse that
have a big "Feed" sign. That sign was there to hide the neighboring street.
Its strange to think that while our favorite show was being filmed there was
another world just a few feet away.

BTW, Joel Rasmussen sells copies of this print on his site at
http://www.mayberry-emporium.com/html/40_acres_print.html

"Chelcia, I'm with you ! And thanks for saying it.
The whole project reekes with disappointment."

And there's no fun in imagining? For years I taught sophomore college
literature and the best way to interest 1970's students in, say, CRIME AND
PUNISHMENT was to have them cast it as a movie. No one ever thought it would
be made, but the fun was in the imaging.
