We had a real Mayberry Moment in church this morning. The sermon was about
hate, and our intern pastor held up a rock and said that it represented hate
and how when we wanted to get rid of the hate all we had to do was throw
away the rock. Well, immediately my mind went to good old Ernest T. Bass
and I almost started laughing right in the middle of that serious sermon.
Then to make it even better, she pointed out a basket full of rocks that she
had brought to church and asked each of us to take a rock home and think
about the anger it represented and then we were to throw the rock away.
Well, our church has over 2000 members, so all I could think about was all
of us going out and throwing those rocks through someone's window. I wonder
if Ernest T. got his start this way. After all, the only time he threw
rocks was when he was angry about something. So if you happen to hear on
the news about a massive window breaking vandalism spree in Eau Claire,
Wisconsin, you will know what it is all about.

Hey, Kim, I'm looking forward to meeting you at Andy's house! I'll be the one

I was looking on imdb.com to see when Bambi came out today, it came out in
1942.
When I saw who did several of the voices for the movie I got a TAGS
connection.
Sam Edwards was the voice of Thumper and he played Sam Muggins, Lester
Scobey and others on TAGS.
Sterling Holloway was the voice of Flower as an adult, he played Bert
Miller on TAGS.
Mary Lansing was the voice of Aunt Ena / Mrs. Possum, she played Martha
Clark, Mrs. Lukens and others on TAGS.
Will Wright was the voice of Friend Owl, he played the first Ben Weaver on
TAGS.
I can't wait to see Bambi again, the dvd came out this past Tuesday.

I was wondering if any of you saw the March edition of Guideposts Magazine??
The story on page 45 is about a 10 year old boy named Alexander and his dog
that is named Lady. The story begins like this......"You might call my son,
Alexander, a Mayberry throwback, as in the old feel-good TV show The Andy
Griffith Show".
Don't you just love it !!!!! If you get a chance to read the story I know you
will enjoy it because Alexander will definetly remind you of our Opie. In fact
the story kind of reminded me of the "Opie the Birdman" episode of TAGS,
because Alexander is as tenderhearted toward his dog as Opie is towards Winken,
Blinken and Nod.
......the thing is Opie's just become a mother.........

Hey, Cay Holiday Blonde!. You're correct, that is Frank Myers house
(Mayberry Goes Bankrupt) behind the kids as they hit the ball toward the
Rimshaw house. If you're got a picture of the 40 Acres back lot, you can
see it is actually on the corner behind the church.

Yep,Robert Easton's voice is legit. He did a lot of work in
Hollywood teaching actors how to speak with different
accents & dialects. I don't remember the character's
name, but he was on the Beverly Hillbillys. He played a guy
from back home who Jethro was teaching to be an
international playboy.

A Mayberry moment this weekend - I was in a children's museum with my
daughter and we were looking at an animal display. There was a picture of a
dingo
dog, and I told the lady next to me that they were indiginous to Australia. Of
course, she didn't get it and probably thought I was "some kinda nut...."

To Dapper Dan, You will see Robert Easton (Pete Johnson, with the long
eyelashes) pop up on many 1960's movies and TV shows, but not always with
the same accent. I remember back in the 70's he was a guest on Johnny
Carson and he was also one of the top dialogue coaches in Hollywood. He
could do any accent you could imagine. Many of the top actors and actresses
were his students when they played a role that called for a different accent
than the one they already spoke with.

I saw the episode Briscoe declares for Aunt Bee for just the second time. I do
believe it rates up there as one of my favorites. There were some great lines
written for Briscoe. My question is: how old were Aunt Bee and Briscoe when
this episode was done? I noticed that the episode had speaking parts for only
4 of the cast members. Were there any episodes with fewer speaking parts?

This is to let everyone in on an inside joke between a couple of TAGS nuts
(cashew of course). Barney (Bob) said he'd gotten his tickets to Mayberry days
and planned to drive there from AZ. He said he'd swing through Wylie so he
could pick up a batch of cashew fudge along the way. (I'd told him that if I
ever get out to Mayberry days, I'd bring a batch of fudge for him.) Since it's
a long trip, he said he'd just drop in on all the Thelma Lou's along the way
and load up his truck with fudge.
So Thelma Lou's, the meeting is adjourned for now. However if we can't get our
fudge making coordinated how would you girls like to form a softball team?
Kim - a Thelma Lou from Wylie, TX
