In the episode "Hot Rod Otis", not are there speaking parts for only 3 cast
members, Barney, Andy & Otis are the only cast members -- period.

"Wasn't Olive at the diner only mentioned the one time?" Olive was seen in the
"uniform" episode when Earnest T. Bass was in the diner and he handed Barney
the sugar. Just before that happened, Olive told Barney that he or Andy had
left an extra quarter as her tip. Am I right? Kathy J

When I was watching Gomer The House Guest the other nite I think I saw Andy
smoking in bed. Is this right? That's downright dangerous. I just don't
remember seeing that before.
Also, Olive is seen in the diner when Barney is ordering and Ernest T. is
sitting next to him reading the paper. When Barney tells Olive to keep the
extra
quarter tip.

To the list, even though he was heard, how about Leonard Blush, The Masked
Singer, Gomer's buddy Lemley Gilbert (Phoebe's brother). Hog and Hogette
Winslow. Idele Bushy. Has anyone mentioned Ed Crumpacker (my grandmother's
maiden name)? How about Robbie Miller (Jerry Van Dyke's mother who Aunt Bea
knew in Morgantown? Clara Edward's son Gale? If you think about it long
enough you start getting a little nuts. there are so many people!!!!

Carol, regarding your question about the fewest speaking parts. I
believe the episode that had the fewest cast members appearing and/or
speaking was the "Otis' Car" with only three in the whole episode. I
love that episode because it has Andy, Barney and Otis singing "The
Vacant Chair" in three part harmony. (We shall meet, but we shall miss
him, there will be one vacant chair......).

Robert Easton played Beuregard Short on Beverly Hillbillies.

For all interested, here's the complete lyrics of the tune including the 3
verses that unfortunately were not done on TAGS
Low and Lonely by Briscoe Darling (The Dillards)
Chorus
Low and lonely, sad and blue
Thinking only, of little you
Always trying, to keep from crying
I'm low and lonely over you
1. Do you miss me, say you do
Tell me darling, please tell me true
Do you yearn dear, for my return dear
I'm low and lonely over you
2. Low and lonely, weary too
You're the only, true love I knew
Don't be long dear, you know it's wrong dear
I'm low and lonely over you
3. You're my darling, you're my dear
You can trust me, so never fear
How I miss you, I long to kiss you
I'm low and lonely over you
Got time to breathe; got time for music.

How about Jack Egbert. He blackballed Barney from the Philomathian Society.

Hey to all...
I would like to say thank you to Erin for the sympathies...right back at you.
I lost my 16 yr old pup just this past January. It is tough. However..I have
found much joy in watching "Dogs dogs dogs". I see all the little babies and my
heart fills up...just like it did the first time I saw her. I laugh...I cry.
It has been a healing episode for me. Try it.
Laura Lee hobbs was only mentioned once..."You & me & LAURA LEE HOBBS!"
I love that little mayberry gossip! Every town needs one!
But...let's not forget our often mentioned but never seen...the lovely Juanita.
Does anyone ever wonder what these two would look like or any of the other
mystery charachters?

Re: My question is: how old were Aunt Bee and Briscoe when this
episode was done?
Interesting you should ask: I was noticing the age difference myself
(you see, Denver Pyle looked older than he really was). In this
episode, he was 43 and Bee was 61. Another interesting age discrepancy
was that his bass-playing son (Mitch Jayne) was only eight years his
junior!

Re: Yep, Robert Easton's voice is legit. I don't remember the
character's name, but he was on the Beverly Hillbillies.
Still, his voice sounds very southern for someone born in Milwaukee!
Actually, he did go to college in Texas, so that may explain a little.
He played Beauregard Short in an episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies"
in 1965. Other interesting tidbits which may surprise you about Mr
Easton is that he played a Klingon in "Star Trek 6", and he has
voice-coached the likes of Olivier and Gregory Peck (so that's how Mr
Peck learned to talk "regular" for that movie).

I think I finally found one! After more than three years of watching
everybody do all the really good noticin', I think I found one.
Watching the Gold Truck episode tonight...
When the G-Men first come in the courthouse (We'll wait), they take off
their hats and sit down. When Opie comes in and crosses the floor to Barney
and
passes the men sitting down, their hats are on again. Then, when the men are
shown again, their hats are off and in their laps.
Has anybody else caught that? Or am I still just a trained noticer in
training?
...Alan (I came to fill my vase!)

Hey, everyone. My name is Margaret Ad(d)ams and I am a new "member" of

Nat Pike told me about this site. Being an untapped source of

Is it too late to take the quiz, Janet? I promise to keep my eyes on
my own paper, and do you think this beard makes me look brainy?
