I'm also a noticer trainee and I too saw a discrepancy on the Gold Truck
episode. Barney's shoes and pant legs got gas on them when Gomer put the gas
in the gun port. Then later his shoes and pants looked dry. After reading the
digest today, I noticed something else. If Ernest T couldn't read much, why
was he looking at the paper when Barney caught him in the diner? Does anyone
know which episode has the most inconsistancies?

Regarding Aunt Bee and Briscoe's romance, they say age is just a number. After
all Charlene's mother was 17 when she married Briscoe. Of course that was her
second marriage! The words to Low and Lonley just make you want to cry, but
I'm fighting it.

Reading the discussion about characters who are never seen, I was wondering if
there are characters we see once and then never hear about or see again. In
the "Gold Truck episode" I love Regis, the guy who is holding the "Down with
the Gold Standard sign." I don't think he is ever mentioned or seen again! Are
there other characters like that?

I know exactly how Laura Lee Hobbs and Juanita look. (Well,
in my opinion anyway.)

Laura Lee Hobb's a cute little blonde who never shuts up,
and Juanita is a sultry dark hair vixen who's careless with
the hearts of men. Except for Barney. Juanita can't help
it. That boy just melts her heart.

Now, how about that gossip Viola Slatt? I picture her as a skinny lady
with a tight perm, always wearing a hat with a shaking
flower on it, and carrying a huge purse, in spite of the fact that no one ever
sees her buying anything...just talk.

And what does this Lydia look like? 'Fraid you're gonna have to drive by Shady
Grove, MS, to find out that answer!

I've seen this episode for decades, and as recently as last night. I still
can't tell if it's Laura Lee Hobbs or Laurel Lee Hobbs. Anyone got that
script?

Not that it matters...

I've enjoyed reading everyone's list of folks that were mentioned but not seen
on TAGS, so I put my bucket on and came up with some I don't think have been
listed. Has anyone mentioned: Old Man Kelsey, Briscoe Darlin's first wife,
Vicki Harms ?? (I believe she is the girl who bit the bottom off of Barney's
snowcone), the Apricot Queen that Andy escorted instead of Barney, Andy's
cousin that worked on an oil rig, Oliver Gossage (Ernest T. Bass pretended to
be him at Mrs. Wiley's party) and I saved the best for last..... Andy's
wife/Opie's mother? Believe it or not my husband Dave came up with Andy's
wife, and he isn't that big a fan of
TAGS. He's coming along I'm proud to say!

Here's one character that's only mentioned once, plus she's a great trivia
question! In one episode (I think it is "Quiet Sam") Floyd mentions his wife
by name. What was her name???

I seem to recall "Mable." Let me know if I'm wrong.

Andy smokes in several episodes of TAGS, but the most effective scenes, in my
opinion, are in 'Gomer the House Guest' and 'Prisoner of Love.' Andy's smoke
in bed in 'Gomer the House Guest' looks very film noir and could be inserted
in a 1940s thriller movie a la 'Sorry, Wrong Number.' The 'Prisoner of Love'
smoke is a syrupy romantic smoke bordering on melodramatic as he thinks about
Susan Oliver.

Hey Ya'll,

I was surprised to see Ron Howard's Daddy (Rance) as one of the first men to
speak to Andy about the "Gold Truck".

That episode included Ron's little brother "Clint Howard" also!!
I have seen this one hundreds of times and it just occured to me!

Concerning Alan's post on the Gold Truck episode, one thing that I have
always noticed and thought was so funny is that the G-men actually change in
those first few moments of the show. I believe when Opie comes in and looks
over at them, those men are not the ones that originally came in. And then
they mysteriously change back when Andy comes in. Am I seeing things or does
anyone else see this also?

Also in the episode last night, Opie's Ill gotten gain, something caught my
eye that never has before. When Barney comes into the Taylor house while
Opie is doing his homework, he picks up a cup and pours himself some coffee.
The cup had a "B" on it. I had never seen that before!! Okay call me "nave"
but I just thought that was funny!

Teresa Elkins
"That's not where I'm from, I'm from Greensboro"

I think I finally found one! After more than three years of watching
everybody do all the really good noticin', I think I found one.

Watching the Gold Truck episode tonight...

When the G-Men first come in the courthouse (We'll wait), they take off
their hats and sit down. When Opie comes in and crosses the floor to Barney
and
passes the men sitting down, their hats are on again. Then, when the men
are
shown again, their hats are off and in their laps.

Has anybody else caught that? Or am I still just a trained noticer in
training?

...Alan (I came to fill my vase!)
