I don't post often but I do have a quick question.
My set of Season 1 dvds has a synching problem where the sound is slightly
off from the picture on one of the first episodes. I don't remember which as
it has been awhile since I watched it. I seem to remember some brief
discussion about this.
Are all the Season 1 dvd sets like this, or did they correct this in later
pressings of the box set? I can tolerate it--it was on just one of the
episodes and the overall quaility is great--but wanted some insight from
fellow Mayberrians!

Margaret's story of the security guard at the Lincoln library reminded me of a
recent event I saw on the news. Several officers were advancing on a stopped
vehicle, when one accidentally tazered himself in the leg. I didn't think
about it until reading the security guard account that if Barney were deputying
now-a-days, he might be armed with a tazer. I can picture him giving himself a
blast with it and Andy catching him as he went down.

Just wanted to let you know that I did just that! This morning, I went to
Weaver's, pre-ordered my Season 2 DVD set and ordered a pair of sleep pants AND
a pair of boxers (for lounging around the house when it's particularly warm).
Can't wait until May 24, when my DVDs AND stylish clothing will be put in the
mail!!

In the episode about the Lady Speeder, she wore sunglasses. Remember how she
casually dangled them with one hand in front of her face as she inquired why
she had been stopped? I think Bad Boy Bailey wore them too, maybe not. Did
either of the Fun Girls wear them?
Here in St. Petersburg, Florida, the local high schools are hosting an
event/contest encouraging students to study the Constitution. And wouldn't
you just know it???? The title of the event is "We the people". Makes a

Didn't Aunt Bee wear them when she was driving her convertible?
And the other 2 have been mentioned already.

The girl that played Cynthia, who punched Opie in the eye, is the aunt of a
teammate on my daughter's high school softball team. This is the closest I
have ever come to meeting someone that has a direct connection to Mayberry!

I was down at Weaver's earlier today and ran into Jenny Boone. Sweet lady,
I always enjoy talking with her. Funny thing, though, she was buying a set
of dishes. It wasn't funny that she was buying a set of dishes, it was
funny that the last time I ran into Jenny, it was at Weaver's and she was
buying a set of dishes!
Now what in the world could she be doing with all those dishes?

>>>Like many of you I got Season 1 of TAGS on dvd. There is a lip synching
problem on one of the first episodes (can't remember which as it has been
some time). Is this a problem that was fixed in later versions of Season 1
or are all the Season 1 box sets out there the same way?<<<
My season-one set doesn't have that problem. The only thing I've noticed is
that there are a couple of spots where there's a very brief pause in both the
picture and sound.

Hey to all our great Mayberry friends. I just was wondering if anyone has
heard that the Nashville cast reunion show has been canceled. Ms. Betty
Lynn phoned Troy & me tonight and she told me that Phil (man in charge) had
called her and that due to several cast members canceling, he has decided to
just cancel the whole show. We have not heard from the Gaylord about this.
Has anyone heard from Nashville about this? I know they have already gotten
their deposit from us, I hope this will not be a problem getting our money
back. Just wanted to pass this own.
I don't want to think about it, cause it kinda makes me sad. I was looking
forward to seeing all our friends. Oh well, we still have Mayberry Days!!!
Take care to all,

>>>As far as did Opie have any other teacher other than Miss Crump, well she
mentioned that she was replacing a Miss Johnson (?) , I believe, when she
first became Opie's teacher.
Here's a list of Opie's teachers:
First grade: "[With] the trouble I'm in with Miss Johnson, I could USE
special flowers." (after the Morrison Sisters told Opie not to go into the
hot house in "Alcohol and Old Lace" -- seems to me they might have locked
the door -- but I digress)
Second grade: "He looks like Mrs. Cox in the second grade!" (commenting on
Barney's disguise in "The Bookie Barber")
First half of third grade: "Miss Warner never gave us all this history
junk." Episode: Andy Discovers America -- from this point on, it seems Miss
Crump was Opie's only teacher, except for Clara Edwards (his piano teacher)
and an unnamed coach in "Tape Recorder."

I wonder if they have an exhibit of the Emancipation Proclamation at the
Lincoln library. It's a very famous proclamation, as ol' Barn' will be the
first to tell you.
