I picked up our daily paper tonight and turned to the health section. There
on the first page was a large picture of a man who was wearing an exact
replica to Asa's neck stretcher that he loaned Barney when he was trying to
get taller to pass his physical. Apparently a chiropractor in Eau Claire is
using it as a "treatment" to help people. I handed the paper to my wife and
told her to see if she found anything related to Mayberry when she read it.
After a few minutes she started to laugh and said "Barney". So I guess
Mayberry was ahead of its times way back when.

"Now that's about the silliest looking thing I have ever seen."

Oh, by the way. A sure all cure for hiccups is to eat a large spoonful of
creamy peanut butter right off the spoon. The thick peanut butter adheres
to the muscle in the throat that is having the spasms, and "ta da" hiccups
are gone. Really it works. Trust me."

I've noticed that too. On the first episode when aunt bee is catching a
fish, none of Opie's
words synch up with his mouth. It's when he yells "reel it in aunt bee" and
he's jumping around.

Hey, here's a question for you folks out there with those fancy phones that
will dial on voice command.

Has anyone been able to voice program one to get it to call home when you
say "Sarah, get me my house."

>"surely Barney wore sunglasses at some point???"

>I told her that if none of you came up with an example, it didn't
>happen. But she piqued my curiosity. Did he?

Do motorcycle goggles count???..........They could be! If you want to count
"things" in front of people's faces you have to count newspapers that Barney
used and cut a tiny hole in to see out. And what about a tree limb taped to
his helmet....I swear, Barney has to be the most "made up" character in
Mayberry....Count how many outfits he's worn.....uniform, old salt and
pepper, old lady dresses, raincoats, neck harness, chain and tag, motorcycle
jacket, uniform shirt on backwards (Up in Barney's Room episode). The list
is a longun!

Harriet, dressing my chickens up and taking them downtown

......"Ohhhhh, I don't have any goggles or gauntlets"....."Who's gonna
notice? You'll be in the side car"........"Let her rip!"...............

>>>My season-one set doesn't have that problem. The only thing I've noticed
is that there are a couple of spots where there's a very brief pause in both
the picture and sound.
Thelma Lou (Janet)
>>>

That's probably the result of the DVD player having to switch layers. Most
DVDs these days have information stored in two different layers so they can
fit more stuff on the disc. Every now and then the laser has to refocus
itself to read from the other layer, and the result is a momentary pause in
playback (especially on older DVD players). Usually the disc manufacturer
tries to make this pause happen during a scene change, but sometimes they
don't bother to do this.

Regarding sunglasses, Opie donated an old pair to the rummage sale in "Andy
Forecloses." They worked real good, as long as he kept one eye shut.

I have a Samsung S307 phone and I have The Andy Griffith Theme as one of
caller groups tone. It is very good quality.

The site I found wasn't easy to get the tone downloaded from, but it is the
only one I have found.

You must have web access on you cell phone, and be a little more than a
novice on using it and the internet.

It requires you set up an account, and you have to buy "credits" with either
a credit card or a Pay Pal account.

I recommend only the Polyphonic tones from this site.

If you want to go to the site I suggest you read all instructions very
closely, and utilize the "Help" links as well.

The site is--

http://matrixm.com/

Click on the word "Ringtones" soft key link icon, and do a search for "Andy
Griffith".

It will allow you to play them first. They have one that whistles the theme,
but it will only download 4 seconds of what you hear. That was
disappointing, but the Polyphonic one was very good also.

If you try this and find the tone you would want, and your phone is
compatible, you will be as pleased to get the tone as I was.

Ring Tones are like the weather......Everyone complains about it but nobody
does anything about it.

Calvin Coolidge? Nope, Mark Twain.

Hey All,
I thought with Mother's day coming up I would
practice the song Otis sang...
"I'm sorry I broke your heart mother"
I hope everyone remembers that I don't like to wear a
hat after It's been on someone else's head...You know
my mother was the same way! I just hope the clocks in
our (my mother and I) stomachs don't keep anybody
awake at night...Hey It's OK to make fun of me but
don't make fun of my mother...

A few days ago, Jason wrote in to the digest asking about the replica of the
Taylor home that we were building. I replied back to the digest that I
would post pictures online very soon. Well, I did it today, so you can go
to my albums on Webshots and take a look at the (almost) finished product if
you’d like to. This is the address:

 HYPERLINK "http://community.webshots.com/user/marshaart";
http://community.webshots.com/user/marshaart

If for some reason that won’t work for you, go to HYPERLINK
"http://www.webshots.com"; http://www.webshots.com and look for the title
“Community”, click on that, then when you get to the page it takes you to,
there is a place for you to enter the member’s name. Type in “ marshaart “
without the quotation marks, and it should take you to our house albums.
The last one (“It’s DONE!”) has the interior shots. I haven’t posted the
exterior shots yet because Dave is (even as I type this) working on the
front skirting, readying it for siding. When that’s done, I will post
pictures of the front of the house. Enjoy—please leave your comments in the
guestbook on the Webshots page, and thanks for looking! More to come…as
soon as it’s completely done. We need to hang pictures, finish Opie’s
window seat, and as I said Dave will finish the porch soon. Thanks!

I didnt have any synch problems with my season 1dvd's, but I did have some
problems with
some of the discs skipping in places. Luckily the place I got them from let me
have another set
while keeping the first one and go thru them till I had one complete set that
worked perfectly and
then just return the bad ones. They even paid for the return shipping which was
extremely generous.

Very Mayberry of them.

*** NEWS FROM TAGSRWC HQ: Nashville Reunion ***
Medical-related travel restrictions for several of the cast members have
regrettably caused Gaylord Opryland Resort to cancel June's Mayberry
Cast Reunion event in Nashville. Folks who have made reservations should
be receiving a detailed letter from Gaylord Opryland within the next few
days, if not already. The letter will explain options for alternative
event packages and refunds. Gaylord Opryland apologizes for the
disappointment and disruption of plans. We’ll all hope for better luck
with a future Mayberry-related event at the resort.

As a quick note...the cast members are fine...some have been going
through illnesses and just don't need to travel across country at this
time.

I just received that bad news! they have cancelled the cast reunion scheduled
for June 17-19. Gaylord Opryland stated that it was due to travel restrictions
for several cast members due to health issues. It is a big disappointment for
us, as this was our first big trip to see the cast members. It is a long trip
from Montana to where most of these events are held. I hope the cast memebers
are recovering and we can reschedule for a later date.
