Allan,
thans so much for sharing the site that Howard's daughter has done for her
Dad.What a blessing to have been able to watch this man and oh the memories of
the laughs he brought to me on those episodes that he brought Ernest T to life.
Thanks to the good Lord above that we had the opportunity to enjoy this
wonderfully talented man! I will miss him,but fortunately we can still have a
little Ernest with our tapes and DVDs. What a jewel of a "creechter" he was!

My fond memory of Ernest T. was when I met him at the event in Oxford, Alabama
about 10 years ago. He was so humble and did not want us complimenting him; a
true gentleman.

I don't much care for rap music, but it seems obvious to me
that it didn't begin in the 80s,like some people think, but
started when Ernest T. was serenading Charlene Darling in
the episode "mountain wedding".

Yesterday someone suggested that Mr. Schwump and Jerry
Mathers were one and the same. If you think about it,you
never do see the two together. Kind of like Clark Kent and
superman!

Howard Morris played George the TV repairman that Barney takes out to
the lake to get Helen's permission to take her TV to the shop.

Oh yeh, he played the tv repairman when Andy and Helen went off on their
picnic and Barney brought him to the lake because Helen's picture was all
squiggly.

I think he played the tv repairman that was supposed to fix Helen's tv in the
episode where Andy and Helen "tried" to go on a picnic at the lake...

I can think of three: George the TV repairman, Leonard Blush, and an unnamed
radio announcer.

He was the tv repairman (George?) and he was the voice of Leonard Blush on
the radio, I think. He also played a behind the camera role as director of
some episodes. :) Oh, I miss Ernest T. I think I'll go and throw a rock,
then write a sentence about a possum in Old Man Kelsey's woods, then go and
sing Old Aunt Mariah in honor of him. He may have been a little mean
sometimes (by his own admission), but I think he was just a bit
misunderstood, and maybe he was a NUT, but we loved him. He was always one
of my favorite TAGS characters, and there will never be another person like
him (Ernest T. and Howard Morris!). Y'all have a Mayberry day, and remember
Ernest T. fondly... Lisa

Too bad it took the passing of Ernest T to get people off the subject of 'sleep
pants'. Some of us never had pajamas let alone sleep pants.

He was the TV repairman that Barney dragged out to the lake to see if Helen
wanted to let him take the set to the shop.

It has taken me a few days to accept that one of the greats has gone. I
watched with love and respect for Howard Morris tonight as T.V. Land showed
his work on tags. I began to think about the progression of our
relationship over the last ten or twelve years and what it has meant to me
personally. It went from utter awe at first meeting him to respect for his
lasting talent, to great affection. I was fortunate to have a few private
conversations with the man and found him to be one of those gentle artists
who wants everyone around him to look good. I also found him privately to
be quite a gentleman who had an interest in those that he worked with.
Since I had a few occassions to actually be on stage with him in performance
I thought each of the readers here would be interested to know that he not
only gave of himself on stage but also gave me the opportunity to shine. My
light was somewhat more dim than his and yet he allowed mine to grow
brighter. The light of his life on tags and all of his other great
accomplishments will be a beacon for me as I continue to work on. I also
want to say that his son, David, did the great job of making Howard's later
years more productive and pleasurable. My heart and sincere respect go to
him as well.

I'll miss you, Howard.

Charley you're going to have to get past our DEE-troit team. I don't
know what Miami thinks, but I think we've got her if she don't jump. Or
hit too many three pointers. Series is one to one now, but back in town
on Sunday.

I might just get my blue serge suit on , a striped tie and take the
train down there and visit one of them "rabbit clubs" before the next
away game.
