Like many of you, I spend last evening (Wednesday) watching the TV Land
tribute to our own Ernest T. I especially appreciate David Browning's
words which obviously came from the heart and out of a direct relationship
with the Mr. Morris.

I've met David several times at various events, most recently at Bristol,
TN (David, that was in Mr. Smith's suite where we talked for a few minutes
on Saturday). No matter how many times I've seen David perform, I'm always
entertained. It's kinda like watching an episode of TAGS for the hundredth
time (literally) - it just gets better and better. If any of you've not
seen David, lemme tell you he takes off on Barney near 'bout as good as
Goober takes off on Cary Grant!

I received my TAGS merchandise order from Weaver's yesterday and it was like
having a second Christmas: second season DVDs, sleep pants and book about small
towns. All are fabulous quality. Thank you Jim!

Don Good asked "Who is who in the picture of "The Three Haircuts"
   (from "Your Show of Shows")..."
The guy on the left looks an awful lot like Carl Reiner. The middle guy sure do
es look familiar, but I just can't think of his name. Of course, the guy on the
right is our beloved 'Ernest T'.

Dear Mike,
I am so sorry to hear what happend to your daughter. I know some of
what you are going thru. I lost my son also at age 19, that has been about
12 years now and he would be 31 this year. How the time has passed and even
though I miss him so and wonder what he'd be doing today, the time has
helped to heal. My son died in a auto accident , not near as tragic a thing
as what took your baby girl. I know that has to be so much harder to deal
with. Know that you are not alone and our prayer are with you.

Debbie Caruso

Hey folks,
It seems almost perfect timing that Season 2 of The Andy Griffith Show
was released this week--it has provided me much comfort, and a means of
denial about the loss of Howard Morris. (I spent Sunday viewing
prograams involving Mr. Morris: TAGS, Twilight Zone, Sid Caesar and
about a dozen episodes of Atom Ant--a voice he did for me the last time
we visited at an event.) I will miss his larger-than-life presence at
upcoming events.

Following the release of Season 2 of TAGS on Tuesday, I have been lost
in Mayberry Heaven. I am so tickled that Paramount did their homework,
found the lost cast commercials for General Foods products and included
them as bonus material on each disc. Now, not only do we get that
25-and-a-half minute complete epsiode, but we are getting up to another
90 seconds of cast-in-character commercials that were related to the
specific episodes. So, for those counting, you could get a 27 minute
visit to Mayberry--or, if you are too cheap to spend the cash on the box
sets, you can watch a trimmed down 20-minute version of the show on TV
Land.

I know my answer--I am counting the days until the August release of
Season 3!!!!! In the meantime, I wwill rewatch Season 1 & 2 in digital
quality and be content. I for one also intend to write Paramount Home
Video a note thanking them for going this extra mile and hoping they
will do the same for the remaining season sets. I'll also suggest they
include at least one original closing credits in the set so we can be
reminded of how the show used to end, with Andy and Opie walking away
from the lake, fish in tow. It can't hurt to ask!

Regardless, as our man Andy would say, "It's Goo-oo-d!"

Peace,
Phil Bowling

I have been reading everyone's comments about the loss of Howard Morris and
what a great man he was, and they have all touched me very deeply. I have to
say Amen! to everyone's thoughts because he truly was one in a million. I
especially appreciated reading your comment's David, because you had the
privilege of spending some quality one on one time with him. Thank you for
sharing with us on a personal level what a wonderful man Howard was. It makes
me realize again how that after someone is gone it is too late to tell them how
much they mean to you. If I could learn a lesson from Ernest T. it wouldn't be
rock throwing, or singing while "whomping" on a can, or even how to jump over a
stump, it would be to be more open with my feelings. Wasn''t it wonderful how
easy it was for him to share his feelings for Charlene and then later Romeena!
I guess what I'm trying to say to all of you is ....."you're not no account",
and I love and appreciate all of you and your friendship. I am
so grateful for all of you!

Thank you Howard for all the things you taught us!

Anita Carpenter
