Don't know if Mr. Griffith knows about this wbmutbb, but, just in case, I'd
like to wish him a Happy 79th Birthday, and Thank him for having the insight
many years ago, to do a show like The Andy Griffith Show. (And Matlock, of
which I am also a fan). It's no wonder the show has been around for all these
years. It is truly a classic.

That's quite a transition. How about the way Hubcaps Lesch morphed into
Grandma Walton when she moved up to Virginia? I'm sure glad she went straight!

He does a mean Glen Ford also...remember:

Andy: "That's what you did...you went to see Glen Ford in G-Men. Now you're
gonna be Glen Ford-ing it all over the place!"

Happy 79th to Andy Griffith who I understand was born the same day as Marilyn
Monroe.

Finally saw "A Face in the Crowd" recently. All I can say is...wow. It's not
an exaggeration to say that in that movie, Andy gave a performance that would
go toe to toe with Brando. He was so powerful in that performance, a rather
bleak role as a hobo who is put on the fast track to radio and television
stardom as a Will Rogers-type philosopher and even becomes a power-mad
political broker--he was so powerful, it left me numb. Definitely *not*
Sheriff Taylor. But a truly great movie nonetheless and surprisingly ahead of
its time.

Andy has been promoting that DVD (it was only re-released in the last couple of
weeks or so) and gave an interview to the Associated Press in which he said he
doesn't think there will ever be a Mayberry movie like the upcoming "Bewitched"
movie with Nicole Kidman. His reason: he honestly can't fathom anyone filling
Don Knotts' shoes as Barney Fife. He also let out a little-known tidbit about
the real reason Sheriff Taylor doesn't carry a gun: it's not a statement of
non-violence, but a strong statement about how comfortrable Griffith felt with
that thing on his hip, he just didn't like wearing it.

The base of the lamp looks to be a lamb
The shade has a picture of a little girl with sheep,
I am assuming that this is a Little Bo Peep motif.

In other seasons the lamp base is a horse and the shade has
a cowboy motif

Dapper Dan
Wonder if I could make a lampshade out of a bucket?
maybe call it the Thinking lamp!

I got my Face in the Crowd DVD, It was black & white.
It also had a good special feature with interviews with a lot of the
cast members including Andy. That just made it extreeee good.

What a moulage! Built it, tested it, let folks know about it... and
EZBoards had maintenance issues today! The Mayberry games forum should
be back in order - hopefully by the time this gets posted!

>>>Do you collect Jim Nabors music? I have a comedy record by him done in his
Gomer Pyle voice. Some of the tracks are great. It's an out of print LP
titled : Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.<<<

Actually, Albert, this is the first Jim Nabors album I've owned (shame on me!).
But since I like "When He Spoke" so well, I believe I'm going to have to look
for others. Thanks for the info!

Hey folks,

Since I have decided to go to West Virginia to see Don Knotts in August, I have
a couple of tickets to see Rodney and Doug Dillard that same weekend. Here is
some info:

Aug. 13: Doug Dillard and Rodney Dillard perform at "Onion Fest and Mayberry
Day" at Ritter Farms in Rutledge, Tenn. (not far from Knoxville). Showtime is
6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13. There also will be Mayberry tribute artists
and squad cars on hand, along with other Mayberryish goin's on. For more info,
visit http://www.ritterfarms.com or call (865) 767-2575

The tickets are 2nd row center stage. I am told they are some of the best seats
in the house. Iorderd them a long time ago so I could be close to the stage.I
am only asking ticket price plus $3.85 shipping. Total would be $43.85.

Please contact me directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED] so we don't clutter up the
digest.

I will let these go on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Mayberry says, "Thanks and Happy Motoring!!"

Thanks,

Gary

You may remember Goober asking Opie if he was gonna be like one of them
beagles. "Beatles, Goob". Anyway, can anyone tell me what episode a
beagle can be clearly seen for about 30 seconds?

Also, as I watched Mayberry Goes Bankrupt the other day, I wondered if
the final scene in front of Frank Myers house featured the most actors
born in the 1800's. Of course, there was Andy Clyde and Dick Elliot.
But there might have been a couple more. Harlan Fergus, maybe?

Anyone got that beagle answer?

-Bob
