Hi everybody, good to be back home and able to catch up on the digest. We went
to Mississippi to visit with family and friends for two weeks, and Dave and I
had a Mayberry Moment I wanted to share with you. Dave is from the very small
town of Charleston, Mississippi and while we were out driving one day, what do
you think we loooked up and saw..... a GOAT running around the court square.
Dave and I started cracking up and his Mom and Dad thought we had lost it. We
thought we might see Andy and Barney chasing him and thought about helping out,
but we weren't sure how much dynamite he might have eaten so we didn't join in
the chase.

Mom, Dad. 'Bout time for junior to get his first real haircut?
Then bring him down to Floyd's! A snip here, a snip there and Floyd will
turn your little guy into a little man! If you like, Floyd will then take
his picture and put it up on his "Clip of Fame" cork board.
Andy, Barney, Opie...there all up there, and your young 'un can be too!
On the way out, Floyd has Saf-T-Pops and peppermint sticks for the tyke.
(yes, Mom. You can have one too!)

Floyd's Barber Shop. First time, anytime, all the time! Mayberry, USA

Well, I have to admit the teddy's name has me stumped, but I'll guess Teddy.
As for Barney's voice teacher, her name was Eleanora Poultice.

Just wanted to say "Happy Father's Day" to all the dads out there. Andy Taylor
was a great role model for all of us, wasn't he? Thank you, Allan, for the hard
work of maintaining this digest for all to enjoy. May your Father's Day be
extry-good! My kids and I had to celebrate a day early due to scheduling
conflicts with church camp, (Yes, guys, I complain each year about them leaving
on MY day! Only so many weeks to get everyone in they say.) but what a day it
has been! They started off by taking me to breakfast, then handed me the prized
SEASON TWO DVD'S! When I thought things could not get better, we went to see
"Cinderella Man" at the matinee! (Recommended, but language could have been a
whole lot less blue!) Friends, life rarely gets any better than this! This day
has been a reminder that I must go on despite losing my Dad just ten months ago
today. Gee, how he loved TAGS, too. Sorry to ramble on. Again, I say "Happy
Father's Day", guys!

Blessings!

Hey, everybody.
I have seen disc #1 of the SECOND year of TAGS in the DVD 2nd year set.
WOW! What clarity! I saw Thelma Lou's freckles in the first couple of
episodes disc 1, year #2. Later on they (freckles) are not visible.
I am asking the following question because both my sets of DVD TAGS
have this problem and wonder if they are on ALL the discs:
ALONG the very, very top edge of the screen, at the first 1/3 to 1/2 of
each episode it looks like the tracking was messing up on the original
master tape or something. (Like when you are watching VCR tapes,
sometimes the very edge of the tape is wrinkled or not quite "right" and
the edge (of the picture)leans to one side ; in other words, the whole
picture is not straight up and down. As the episode progresses it looks
like the original master straightened out).(liken it to starting up and
showing 16 mm films in elementary school; when they first began, they
were sometimes messed up along the edges, etc.; I was projectionist when
I taught 5th grade.)
Both (season #1 and #2) have this problem.
By the way, it is NOT my DVD player: this is in the original/master that
my set was dubbed from. WOULD somebody get out their sets and look
closely at episodes; like look really, really closely along the top
edge.............
thanks.

I was watching "Jailbreak" where Barney lets Molloy get out of jail. I
guess Molloy was one too many "torpedoes" for Barney to handle. Anyway,
when he and Andy are in Goss's drycleaner, Goss's sign is seen and I
think it said "HGoss." Isn't his first name Fred? Or did I just not see
it correctly? Guess I'll have to wait until it's on again. NOT. I'll
just look at my DVD's. Will TAGS be the same when we can just look at
any episode we want at any time and not have to wait until some station
decides to show it?

Goober's teddy bear was named "Buster" in "A Baby in the House" episode.
Barney's voice teacher is Elinora Poultice in "The Songfesters" episode.

Someone mentioned the other day that in The New Doctor episode, Ellie
says something to Barney when he comes in..without knowing its Barney.
With my Season One DVD, I watched that incident carefully. Ellie
actually does say "excuse me" turns around and looks (from her chair
peering under the doctor's arm) to the front door, and then addresses
Barney. Perhaps an edited version did not show that.

There was an article in today's paper that some of the TV shows coming
out on DVD have been edited down for various reasons, and fans are upset
about that. I'm glad our favorite show was done right...with the full
episode.

Favorite Pranks Andy pulls on Barney...I think we've covered the
"Barney sleeping in back room pranks, but there is another "Andy coming
in the door without Barney knowing prank" When Barney is typing up and
singing his song in the epilogue of "Crime-Free Mayberry" to the tune of
"Oh My Darling", Andy sneaks up and adds a hilarious verse to "Oh My
Daring Barney Fife"
>From our website (thank you Allan) her are the words

"Oh, My Darin' Barney Fife"
(Sung to the melody of "Oh, My Darlin' Clementine")
In a jailhouse, down in Dixie, fightin' crime and riskin' life,
Dwelled a sheriff and his buddy, pistol-packing Barney Fife.
Oh, my darin', oh, my darnin' oh, my darin' Barney Fife.
He's a deadly crime-stopper, what a copper Barney Fife.
Then one day there come a-ridin' two bad men to rob a bank.
But Fife was tricky, a dead-eye dickey. Now they're locked up in the
tank.
(Andy added the following)
Oh, my Barney, oh, my Barney, had a jail and couldn't lock it.
Had one bullet for his pistol, had to keep it in his pocket
Alright everyone, go back to your homes or places of business
Happy Father's Day, all Andy's, Sam Muggins' and Briscoe's
