"he's healthy, frisky, knows how to cross a street, sings like a bird, and has
a good arm. Plus, he is looks to be low maintenance=not much fuss, yet focused
on the good things in life"
Those qualities certainly set him apart, but Margaret you forgot that Ernest T
himself admits that he kisses good. And after Andy coached him, he "came into
rooms nice" and "aint been shaking ladies hands".
Too bad I don't have a boarding house here in Wylie, I like matchmaking.

Hey Folks,
Just wanted to let you know what happened to the Mayberry Emporium Website.
I didn't have the time to put into that I wanted so I let the site go. I spoke
with our own Allan Newsome a couple of days later and he advised I should go
ahead and renew the Domain Name before someone else got it. Well, TOO LATE.
www.mayberry-emporium.com had already been snatched up.
So, to make a long story short, the new website address is:
www.mayberryemporium.com (no dash)
It should be up and functional in a couple of weeks.
Also, because so many folks have asked, I have decided to do a Mayberry Days
print for this year. I'll have them with me on Thursday. Price is $5
I look forward to seeing all of our "Mayberry" family.
BREAD!!!!

>>Gilligan in the afternoon TV lineup in close proximity to TAGS.
Same here...I got hooked on Gilligan reruns in the afternoon when I was a kid.
I remember being really mad when I was about 8 or 9 because they were
pre-empting Gilligan to televise something so trivial and unimportant as the
Watergate hearings. Of all the nerve!!!
I would have to rate Gilligan as my #4 all-time favorite show, closely
following the Big 3 of Andy, Beverly Hillbillies, and Green Acres (in no
particular order). I know...not exactly rocket science. Just good, clean fun
that helps you to put aside your troubles for a few minutes. And they're STILL
better than anything on TV today!

I sure enjoyed Bob Denver as Maynard G. Krebbs and was sorry
to hear he passed away, but I think the original Dud Wash was
by far the best. Think of him getting off of the bus
in "Here come the Darlings". I mean,he looked like his name
would be Dud!
Peggy was always my favorite of Andy's lady friends. That
soft voice, cooking skills and convertible thunderbird made
her quite a catch. As far as Mayberry characters that we
might get a crush on,lets not forget Juanita. Even though we
never saw her,I can just picture her....hair net, grease
splattered apron, saying "You want more coffee, hon?"

Sadly, Bob Denver, famous as Gilligan, has died. He has a direct TAGS
connection as he was first to play Dud Wash. He was a great comedic
talent.
I'm sure others will point this out, but he wasn't the first to play Dud
Wash. His name was Hoke Howell. I know others know this, but sorry, I
already 10-4'ed ya.

Correction - Charlene had to meet Dud at the bus stop, "The Darlings are
Coming" and then get married, "Mounting Wedding," before Bob Denver played
Dud in "Divorce, Mountain Style". It would have been great to have Bob
Denver and Alan Hale Jr. in the same episode, wouldn't it? Then we could
claim that TAGS created the spin off - Gilligan's Island.

My husband and I were watching The Dukes of Hazzard dvd yesterday and there
was Miss Ellie. She was a federal agent chasing down some record pirates.
Her character had a strong southern accent and no sense of humor at all. (
It was funny that she didn't even seem to recognize Jim Lindsey since she
met him in Mayberry. Maybe it was 'cause he changed his name to Roscoe.)
: ) Just kidding!

Hello everyone,
I noticed that everyone remembers the Skipper and Gilligan appearing on TAGS.
What many of you might not know is that Natalie Schaeffer, who played Lovey
Howell on Gilligan, made an appearance on Mayberry RFD in 1970. I believe the
episode was "Goober, The Housekeeper".
RIP Bob.

I was just watchin a baywatch show couple 3 weeks ago, where one of the
baywatchers had a dream that they were stranded on Gilligan's Island. Bob
Denver and Dawn Wells appeared on this episode playing their respective
roles as Gilligan and Mary Ann. I would say this was probably the last TV
appearance Bob Denver ever made, and as Gilligan. This was about a year or 2
ago.

(Remembering Bob Denver): Dud Wash was a good customer who always had a
hello for everyone in the shop and waited for his turn without complaining.
Dud also enjoyed swapping tall tales and jokes with the other boys in the
barber shop. Both him and Big Jeff Pruitt were big tippers and liked Floyd's
special witch-hazel tonic after a Saturday morning haircut. We hadn't seen
much of them two after they left on a charter boat for a three hour tour but
they will always be part of our family and in our hearts.
Jeff"Skipper"Pruitt, take care of our "little buddy"! We'll miss you both!
Sincerely,
Floyd's Barber Shop.
