I'm with those who feel that the second deputy should've been Jerry as he was
somewhat like Barney and was a charming, sympathetic character; not to mention
that Mr. VanDyke was very cute (and still is). I was never crazy about Warren
as his "huh, huh, huh" kinda' got on my nerves. He was funny and attractive
but just didn't fit in.

Just head Howard Mcnear today on an episode of "Line up" A police radio show
from 1952.
He played one of the criminals in the line up and was caught with a .22 pistol.
But he was going to turn it into a cigarette lighter.

For the person who wrote about not finding any pictures of Lydia.
I made some screen captures from the episode where Lydia first meets Andy.
If would you like, just let me know and I can email them to you.

Our daughter Dana was married last week and for a moment when we were taking
some pictures outside, I saw the bushes moving a little bit and thought it
might be good old Ernest T. Then I remembered that our dear friend Ernest T.
had gone on to his reward...we do miss him so much! It brought a tear to my
eye and a smile to my face thinking of how he could have gotten confused and
grabbed Dana thinking she might be Charlene. I can still see him running away
with Barney thinking it was Charlene... "I wouldn't marry you if you were the
last man on earth." LOL

Dawn thanks for the link to the article about Andy donating his TAGS items to
Chapel Hill, I sure would love to go and see them someday. If any of you get
to see them, let us know all about it please.

I sure am going to miss being at Mayberry Days this year, but I too hope
everyone has a safe trip there and back and you store up lots of memories to
share with those of us not privileged to attend this year. If any of you get
to talk to David Morris, Howard/Ernest T.'s son, please let him know that there
are many of his Dad's fans out here that will always remember what a great
actor his Dad was.
