Of course she didn't leave the babies in the carriage on the street. But
they would've been safe because it's Mayberry after all. She left them in
the jail cell napping. Otis was watching them. (No, I don't think this was
ever on tv in this way, but I'm just going by historical precedent.) :) Lisa

How about all those many times Andy saved Barney's morale and job by
allowing Barney to take credit for things he never did? Like allowing three
prisoners to escape and then giving him credit with the idea of the light
bulb machine guns, beating up the meat market helper with a judo expert and
never telling Barney what happened, faking the drug store robbery, catching
the escaped convict when Andy actually knocked him out with a feed sack,
allowing Barney to take credit for catching Ma and her family robbing
grocery stores when Barney really gave them all the inside information and
Andy figured it out, Andy telling Rafe Hollister to turn him self in to
Barney and allowing Barney to think he captured him. Andy telling the
farmers selling their produce that Barney was so mean and trigger happy. Not
reprimanding Barney when he spilled the beans on the gold shipment. I could
go on and on. But I always thought that Andy was really doing Barney an
injustice by allowing him to get by with all those mistakes. I know Barney
was his best friend and cousin, but Andy was really putting the lives of all
the good people of Mayberry at risk by allowing Barney to get by with all
his mistakes. But that was good hearted Andy. Always there to bail out
Barn. Funny how he would not bail out Opie when he broke a window, but he
always would Barney. Makes you thank.
