Happy Birthday to the other Alan. A word of caution though if you celebrate
with Otis. On his last birthday the Morrison sisters gave Otis a batch of
their special occasion beverage and a jar of preserves. When Otis went by the
jail to "rest" Barney and Andy surprised him with one of Aunt Bee's homemade
cakes. Otis went to blow out the candles and...poof...good bye favorite
blanket. Not even Barney can mend it. Good thing that picture of water was
nearby.

Hello all.
Had a great time at Mayberry Days!! Even brought home a pork chop sandwich to
split with the hubby, and he brought one home for a friend, who, now thinks
he'd like to come to Mayberry Days next year!! What a way to win a TAGS
convert!!!
Anyway, have a question. While we were there, my husband came across
someone who said he could find hat liners, and also someone who made deputy
sheriff hats like Barney's in the show. (The hat liner had something to do
with motorcycles.)
If there's anyone on the wbmutbb who may have any information on the
above--(hat liners or sheriff cap), sure would appreciate the info!!
Have a great Mayberry Day!!

HELLO FELLOW MAYBERRIAN FRIENDS,
Thanks you for your prayers and support during my time of changing
jobs.
Working at Walmart is interesting and safe for me ( more so then being a
school
crossing guard)
So thank you and maybe we can join you next year for Mayberry
days....
Blessings to you all,
Erin

I'm not a trained noticer, but the author of the article had Frank Cady
credited as playing Otis, not our own Hal Smith. (Frank was Mr. Drucker in
"Green Acres", I believe).
Nor do I recall a mention of "What It Was Was Football", which sends me into
fits of laughter every time I hear it.

You mean to tell me that George Spence said something other than "Hello,
Gloria"?
He must have been up to here with tapioca! Or maybe he went wild with

Not too many people saw this at Mayberry Days last week, but on the third floor
at the Emporium was Thelma Lou (Betty Lynn) sitting on a chair with Doug Reeves
(Doug Reeves and the Carolina Eagles) kneeling next to her and giving her a
personal serenade from his CD Searching the Map For Mayberry. She was obviously
paying very close attention to every word as she kept wiping tears from her
eyes. It was real nice! - Chuck in Lima

Howdy Y'all!
My name is Jan P a.k.a. jaminjan49. I just joined the group on 9/11. Speaking
of Howard Morris, he was Jerry Lewis" daddy in "The Nutty Professor". Does any
one besides me remember that Denver Pyle was Doris Day's father in her TV show?
Also besides TAGS, M*A*S*H is my other favorite show. William Christopher , the
Chaplin, on that show had two guest roles on TAGS. A) Dr. Peterson, who removed
Opie's tonsils, B) the state tax person, when Aunt Bee won the game prizes in
Hollywood.
Did anyone know that Andy Griffith had Guillan Barre(sp) Syndrome? I believe he
had it in 1983. I know from first hand experience(1985) what he went through. I
don't know how bad his was, but luckily, I went to the doctor, while mine was a
mild case. I had to learn to walk all over again, and learn to do thing I took
for granted.
Well, enough speechafing.

Although I'm fairly new to WBMUTBB, I've been a TAGS fan as long as I can
remember (more years than I care to admit to), but I have to admit that I
don't know what the Jim Schwenke award is. Being from way out here in Montana,
getting to Mayberry days is an expensive and complicated proposition. It is
still one of our top priorities as a vacation - maybe when the kids get out of
college... But can someone aprise me of the nature of this award?
Lots of luck to you and yours

Speaking of Ron Howard, while on our way back from preachin' last
Sunday morning at Bel Air Presbyterian Church where we attend, we
thought we might drive by little Ronnie Howard's house at 4535 Encino
Avenue in Encino, California. We had been meaning to see where he
lives, you see. Well, we pull up in front of the house and there he
is, out on his carport, washing something out with a garden hose, just
being a regular guy. I reckon I've always known that's what he was.
Now, if only I could catch Don Knotts washing out something!
