Lydia here,

Went over to the Dime Store to buy some more gum numbing gel (the stuff doesn't
work a bit but I keep buying it--will somebody please tell me why I do that)
and me and Laura Lee Hobbs got to talking about Mr. Darling and we
were wondering why a fine man such as he never remarried. Laura Lee Hobbs had
introduced him to her maiden aunt
Flossie Marie, and he wooed and wooed her; but all his fine
talk about them good strong boulders didn't take with Flossie Marie. Some
women are just impossible.

But not me and Laura Lee Hobbs. We's possible.
Yeah, she may have a big mouth; and yeah, I may have a weak
back and a small tolerance for chocolate; but other than a few oddities here
and there, we are two dames filled with
possibilities.

Lydia, them good strong boulders sound mighty fine to me

Since the Adventures of Superman (season one) is being released on
October 18th, some might be interested to know that, from what I've
read, there will be a featurette about the back lot. This may be
interesting as the 40 acres lot that Metropolis was on later morphed
into the town of Mayberry. I'll let you know the results of this box
set, which includes original commercials.

"To all you Mayberry experts. I was watching "Aunt Bee, the Warden" and often
wonder why Andy had his hand bandaged. Does anyone know the real reason for it?
Was it truly injured or was it done as part of the script? What caused the
injury, if it was for real? Did it happen on
stage or in his private life?"

The injury happened in his private life and was written into the script. I'm
not sure how it happened, but I think he may have accidentally hit his hand on
a wall or something. The main clue that it is a real injury is that his hand
is bandaged in two consecutive different episodes, "Aunt Bee the Warden" and
"The County Nurse".

Folks....if you don't go to the Mayberry.com site and see a note letting
you know something like this...don't believe it. TAGSRWC will have that
type information on the front page at Mayberry.com. That said, Andy and
Don are both doing well and are very much alive.

I sure enjoyed Andy's 45th Anniversary Marathon this weekend. Seeing a couple
of episodes brought to mind a question: What are all the times Andy is shown
smoking? I can think of three: when Gomer is staying with them after losing
his job and Andy smokes in bed; when the lady prisoner gets the best of him;
when he's contemplating punishing Opie because of Mr. McBeevee. Any others?
Also, what's the latest on the Andy Bed and Breakfast? I'm starting to plan
next summer's vacation, and I'm wondering if it will be up and ready for
visitors! Have a great day!

And can you take sandwiches on the plane as carry-on or do you have to check

I was raised on a "mill hill" in SC. Part of the mill hill was a
hamburger/hot dog joint called The Cat Dive (real name was Falls St. Cafe,
but that's another story). Best hot dogs in the world. In those days, it
was not a place a woman would go in. But I digress. They had a juke box
next to the front door and I remember Dad giving me a nickle to put in the
juke box and crank up a selection that not only I but everyone in The Cat
Dive always loved to hear - What It Was Was Football.

I did.

I was watching the wonderful marathon that TV Land had in honeor of the TAGS
anniversay and saw an episode, though it was color, that had Frank Cady as a
newspaper man.He was going to take a picture of Warren and Barney until the
call came from the warden about the escaped prisoner that was after Barney. Then
Barney backed out of the photo shoot and was gonna leave town. But Fife the
fierce came through in the pinch again and saved the day by capturing the
inmate. I loved the way he looked when he was all "a-quiver" after Andy dropped
the sack of feed on the inmates head and let Barney get the credit for the
capture.

Just winding down a big weekend of TV Land's Mayberry Marathon, plus, my
husband got me the DVDs for our anniversary Sept. 30th. So, I watched a lot of
TAGS this weekend. I did notice that in "Barney's Car" TV Land took out the
septic tank scene with Andy and Barney on the porch. Isn't this the show were
they discuss Barney buying the septic tank for his parents? Very disappointing
to see a classic scene cut out. I guess I'll just have to watch my DVDs.

According to IMDB.com, Andy hit a wall with his hand (reason unknown) and it
had to be bandaged. Curious to know the events surrounding it.
