******"To all you Mayberry experts. I was watching "Aunt Bee, the Warden"
and often wonder why Andy had his hand bandaged. Does anyone know the real
reason for it? Was it truly injured or was it done as part of the script?
What caused the injury, if it was for real? Did it happen on stage or in his
private life?"
The injury happened in his private life and was written into the script. I'm
not sure how it happened, but I think he may have accidentally hit his hand
on a wall or something. The main clue that it is a real injury is that his
hand is bandaged in two consecutive different episodes, "Aunt Bee the
Warden" and "The County Nurse""*****
The injury was definelty a real one and occured when Andy and his wife at
the time (Barbara) had an argument. Andy out of frustration and anger
punched a wall or door. The hand was bandage up in two episodes and well
written into the script.

A 4-day Mayberry Cruise is being proposed for October 23-27, 2006
by "All About Cruises" in Burlington, NC. The cruise is on Carnival's
Fascination ship out of Miami with stops in Key West and Cozumel.
Tribute artists, cast members and a lecture from Professor Brower are
planned as part of the fun. There will be exclusive Mayberry events and
plenty of time for yourself to enjoy the ship and shore activities.
For prices, payment options, and additional details go to
http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/anewsome/private/cruise.htm
"All About Cruises" owner Sharon Euliss is taking questions by phone
and email at 1-800-832-7993 and [EMAIL PROTECTED] If there is enough
response between now and the October 20, 2005 deadline (only 3 weeks
away), the event will occur.
Other Mayberry cruises have been tried in the past without any luck,
but the price of this one is much more favorable, so if you have ever
wanted to go on a cruise, this would be a good opportunity to go with
Mayberry friends and meet new ones. It is at the end of hurricane
season, so the weather should be fine.

So, can it be Hurricane Otis, if he's over in the Pacific Ocean? Yep,
here's the official verification:
a.. "hurricane" (the North Atlantic Ocean, the Northeast Pacific Ocean east
of the dateline, or the South Pacific Ocean east of 160E)
a.. "typhoon" (the Northwest Pacific Ocean west of the dateline)
a.. "severe tropical cyclone" (the Southwest Pacific Ocean west of 160E or
Southeast Indian Ocean east of 90E)
a.. "severe cyclonic storm" (the North Indian Ocean)
a.. "tropical cyclone" (the Southwest Indian Ocean)
a.. "thunderboomer" (Ol' Man Kelsey's Ocean)

Isn't it odd that we recently had hurricane Rita, now Otis? Maybe the
hurricane namer is a TAGS fan.

In one of the 15 or so episodes I watched this weekend, I noticed a

I remember Andy lighting up on the porch of Sam Becker's house after he
delivered his baby. It's funny how something so nonchalant in the old days is
so noticeable these days, what with most folks sensibly quitting this
destructive habit, including Andy himself. I'm guilty too but have been
smoke-free for 20 years now, PTL!!

Actually, I believe that west of the International Date Line a Hurricane
becomes known as a Typhoon. After all, they do have Hurricanes in Hawaii
(or, would that be "Hawaiyer"?), but they suffer from Typhoons in Japan.

The only other time I remember Andy smoking was after he delivered Sam
Becker's baby, and he and Barney stepped out on the porch. Andy made a comment
about how good it smelled after the rain.
I think Barney smoked once when he was in jail after the " Citizens Arrest "
incident with Gomer.

I know this has been posted in the past, but I finally have a cell phone that

a link to the sight that you can download the Tags theme song from?

"I sure enjoyed Andy's 45th Anniversary Marathon this weekend. Seeing a
couple
of episodes brought to mind a question: What are all the times Andy is shown
smoking? I can think of three: when Gomer is staying with them after losing
his
job and Andy smokes in bed; when the lady prisoner gets the best of him;
when
he's contemplating punishing Opie because of Mr. McBeevee. Any others?"
There are at least a couple more that I can think of. When he is waiting
for Luke Comstock to show up in "High Noon in Mayberry" and after he has
delivered little Andy in "Quiet Sam". He seems to have a penchant for
smoking when he has something on his mind or is nervous about something. I
know smoking is not really PC nowadays, but I've always thought it leant
sort of a vulnerability to Andy's character when we see him in these scenes.
The few times that I have tried smoking, I had none of Andy's thoughful
aplomb. I looked more like Barney, coughing fit and all. As Ernest T would
say, "I just don't cotton to it". No, when I'm in a pensive mood, sitting
down with a good cup of coffee is more my speed. Oh well, to each his own.

Hey to you and yours,
I was watching the wonderful marathon this weekend and I was suprised
at what I discovered.
In the episode where Barney saw Andy and Helen kissing in the jewelry
store. When the crowd was up in the newly decorated bedroom, and they
all found out it was another Barney ooops, the guy standing next to
Barney's left, yells "Barney how could you do this"!! It was our own
beloved Rance Howard. I squinted to read the credits and sure enough
it was Opies real life Daddy.
Anyone else notice this?
