That's yet another example of Mayberry being ahead of its time.

Well, I did hear from George Foley about how many sandwiches it would take
to get to Texas, but he wasn't much help. Since he never got snow shoes for
his birthday, he didn't make the trip. But I did run into Leon and he was
most helpful by sharing his sandwich recipe. The fun thing about eating a
Leon sandwich is you don't actually have to hold it with your hands. IT'LL
STICK TO ANYTHING!

I was sorry to hear about the untimely death of Hamilton Camp, who played
Jeff Nelson in "The Barbershop Quartet." Camp was a graduate of the The
Second City comedy troupe that turned out other TAGS notables such as Jack
Burns (Deputy Warren Ferguson" and Howard Hesseman (WKRP in Cincinnati, but
using the named Don Sturdy when appearing on two episodes of TAGS).

If you watch the 1st part of that show when Andy's bringing them in, he says
he got in a scrap with the prisoners while arresting them.

"And can you take sandwiches on the plane as carry-on or do you have to check
'em?"

You can take them on, but they have to be x-rayed, unwrapped and tested by each
security guard. There won't be much left. :-)

Have we ever had a Hurricane Ernest? Of all the characters in Mayberry,
nobody fits the bill better than our dear ol' Ernest T.

Funny thing about those Hurricane names....wasn't Otis' wife named Rita?

"Yeah, I'm smoking! What's a matter the smoking lamp out screw?"
(Barney smoking in his cell, talking to Andy.)

Andy also smokes when he is on the porch and Aunt Bee is about to marry
Mr. Goss...he crushes the cigarette and says to Aunt Bee "Don't ya Aunt
Bee?"
(asking her if Opie is right about that deep down kind of love she has
for Mr. Goss). He crushes the cigarette underfoot almost as if he is
extinguishing the thought of Aunt Bee really loving Mr. Goss and really
wanting to marry this less than dapper dry cleaner. This episode is
one of my very favorites..."among folks that love each other, like we
do, what's right for one can only be right if it's right for all of us."

Has anybody mentioned that Andy smokes in "Jailbreak," when he's in his living
room talking to the detective from the State Police?

And how about references to Barney smoking? I can remember a few instances:
The pipe in "If I Had a Quarter Million," when he's smoking in jail in
"Citizen's Arrest," and smoking a cigar in "Mayberry on Record."

How hard can it be to track Hurricane Otis? He's in the exact same place
every weekend!!
