Yeah, Barney likes a cigar "when he's feeling special sporty."

I'd forgotten about Hurricane Floyd. Can you imagine the how other TAGS
inspired hurricanes would react? Hurricane Charlene would swirl all around
pretty men. Hurricane Lydia would be very slow because all that moving would
make her nautious. Hurricane Howard would figure out the best route before
taking off. Hurricane Mrs. Sprague would follow Howard to make sure he didn't
sweep any girls off their feet. Hurricane Helen would bluster at first, then
calm down. Hurricane Opie would do his damage in the Taylor's living room, but
Hurricane Bee would blow everything back into place.

I wish real hurricanes were as nice as their namesakes.

I remember being miffed when they named that horrendous hurricane Andrew back
in 1992 but PTL no one refers to it as Andy!

He may end up in the exact same place, but he sure does weave around a lot
on his way there! :) Lisa

Erin and All,

Just in case everybody hasn't gone to the "HelloDoll.com" web site and
seen the note.

"Late in September 2005 Ms. Carson had a stoke which has left her with
partial paralysis and difficulty speaking. Her condition is expected to
improve but your prayers would be much appreciated. If you would like to
send cards or letters of encouragement to her, you are more than
welcome. Her address can be found" below.

Sending her get well cards would be WONDERFUL!! Please take a minute to
do that because I know how much Jean loves her fans and I'm sure it
would be a big spirit raising experience.

Couldn't help but notice last weekend, in the TVLand top 10, some of the
clips they showed were deleted from the actually aired episodes--like the
criminal behind Emma's door...

There has only been one thing that has ever really bothered me about Andy.
That is his reference several times to giving Opie a "whipping" for doing
something wrong. Opie even asks if he was going to get a "whipping" when he
accidentally killed the mother bird. I know Andy probably gave Opie a
spanking, and that it was a very acceptable punishment back in the 60's, but
it has always bothered me when he used the word whipping. It has such a
negative connotation from when and where I grew up. It sounds so abusive.
Is this a phrase that was used for a spanking in the southern regions of the
US? We all know that Andy was such a loving father, it just seems so out of
character. Just find it interesting that the writers chose to use that
particular term.

While watching one of the earlier Black and White episodes saturday, I
noticed something strange. It was toward the end and Andy was at his desk
and the shot was from behind the desk ; he was on the phone. Andy's mouth
moved with words that did not match the audio words that we heard.
Did any body else notice this? It was quite obvious.

I don't know where you grew up but yes..in the south a spanking and a
"whippin'" is the same thing. I had several whippin's growin' up and I
deserved almost every one. :)

I've heard comments about the "whippin'" before but I never even gave it
a thought because that's what my mom and dad always said they were gonna
do to me if I misbehaved. Just the threat of it usually kept me walking
the straight and narrow.

There is a nice article on the "Mayberry" chapter of Knoxville, Tennessee in
the West section of the Knoxville News-Sentinel today (Oct. 5, 2005). TAGSRWC
and Jim Clark, presiding Goober, of course are also
mentioned, in addition to Mayberry Days. You can read about it online at

Andy Griffith will appear on the NC Public Television show "North
Carolina People" Friday at 9:00 pm. here's a little blurb about it:

"NC People on Friday, October 7, 2005 at 9:00 pm and Sunday, October 9,
2005 at 5:30 pm, will feature Andy Griffith. Mr. Griffith discusses the
his early days at UNC, and his career, including The Andy Griffith
Show, Matlock and Broadway. This program will also air in all of the
UNC-NC Channel slots during the week on

Monday, at 12:00 am, 7:00 am, 8:30 am, and 12:30 pm and

Wednesday, at 8:00 am, 12:00 pm, 4:30 pm and 8:30 pm.

UNC-TV's NC Channel is available to those with a digital tuner or
digital cable with Time Warner."

Speaking of NC actors, Kinston, NC native Jaime Pressly appears on the
new show "My Name is Earl." She plays the unscrupulous ex-wife of the
title character. Ms. Pressly has been trying to make it in Hollywood
for years, so it's fun to see her doing well. She's funny. And easy
on the eyes (imho).

Ok, 10-4,

Jason

I'd almost forgot about Hurricane Floyd. I was thinking that he must have
gotten tired of everyone talking about the weather and decided to do something
about it.

Didn't Calvin Coolige say that?
