Allan, I don't remeber exactly when I joined but it has been several years ago,
after visiting my daughter in Virginia where she was living at the time, so it
is anywhere from 7 to 9 years. She showed me the website & bought a webtv when
I got home & signed up.
I have made many friends over the years through your website, & although I have
never met them in person I feel as though I really know many of them through
their postings & personal e-mails.
Freindship was one of the key elements of the show & it has been extended out
through your website. I'm really grateful for all your hard work you have put
into it & wanted you to know what it has meant to me.

>>>I haven't seen the Bonanza episode you are referring to with Mayor Stoner
in it, but
the TAGS episode "TV or not TV" that refers to the movie "Sheriff without a
gun" was
broadcast March 1, 1965.
>>>
Somewhere around here I've got an old paperback Western novel entitled
"Sheriff Without a Gun." I don't remember the author's name or the date,
but I'm sure the title was borrowed from TAGS, and not the other way around.

Like many things in my life, I just sort of stumbled upon you guys. I was
working on some piece of writing and needed to know if Opie ever appeared in
any episodes of Mayberry RFD. Google led me to Allan, so I e-mailed and asked.
He was nice enough to take the time to answer, and that answer led me here. I
signed up. I've always liked TAGS but was never the total fan many of you are.
I'll admit that when I first saw the amount of postings per day, I considered
unsubscribing. Then I read a few and decided I'd give the group a chance.
That was at least three years ago, and I've never regretted hanging around.

I think I joined the digest sometime in the spring or summer of 1999 because I
got my first computer in March, 1999 and I know it wasn't long after that when
I found the digest.
I wasn't born until TAGS was in its last season, so I never watched it when it
was on originally. But I'm sure that I watched TAGS in reruns off and on as a
kid, because I remember my dad saying "It's me, it's me, it's Ernest T." when I
was little and I knew exactly who he was talking about. In those days, I
mostly watched I Love Lucy, Dick van Dyke, and Gilligan's Island.
I didn't realize how great the show was until the early 90's. I worked a
stressful job and had a stressful drive home most days. TAGS came on at 5:30
and sometimes I literally ran into the house to get the TV turned on in time.
TAGS was my stress relief. If I missed TAGS, I was a mess for the rest of the
evening. One of my friends still teases me about the times he called me while
TAGS was on and I wouldn't talk to him until it was over. (And he was more or
less my "darling person" at the time). I guess when you won't even take a
phone call from your darling person during TAGS, you are officially one of
those "compelsion nuts." They're everywhere, you know, Just ask Barney.

One of my friends from our church shared an interesting story with our Back To
Mayberry Bible Study tonight. She is a 1946 high school graduate and is
working on their 60th reunion. One of her classmates, Joel Redlund, made an
appearance on TAGS in 1966. He played Clara Edwards relative, Ferdie, who
played the accordion in the episode with Keevey Hazleton. She wrote Joel a
letter last week telling him about our class but before the letter reached him
she received a letter from another classmate saying that Joel had suddenly
passed away. So, as a tribute to Joel "Ferdie" Redlund, we watched part of
that episode at our class tonight. Isn't it strange all the connections there
are to TAGS even after all these years?

Boy, do I feel obtuse! Where in the world did I get 3 episodes? In my
defense, though, I would never have guessed 12. That was a surprise. I'll have
to go
back and try to find them all in my Mayberry library. Thanks to all you
brilliant TAGS watchers for clearing that up for me.
Since my library is cataloged, can anyone give me the titles of the episodes
so I can find them faster?

I guess you're not gonna head over to Mayberry.com and look 'em up, as
I'd suggested.
http://mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/anewsome/private/searchcastfile.htm
(then enter Donahue)
Below....I've done it for you...but it looks much better formatted
correct on the web site. You really might want to head over to
Mayberry.com and look around sometime. :) (I'm playing the part of Andy
Taylor in seasons 6 thru 8....a little grumpy. ha ha...) Enjoy the list.
