>>>Another [Blues Brothers] connection to Andy (not TAGS) is Kathleen
Freeman who played Sister Mary Stigmata (aka The Penguin) on Blues Brothers
was Lucy Lewis on Matlock: The Witness Killings.

She starred in a Gomer Pyle episode as well. She played a cranky woman
(didn't she always?) who damaged the fender of her husband's car, but Sgt.
Carter got blamed for it. The husband was played by Al Lewis of The
Munsters.

I wanted to share something with all of you that I thought you'd get a
laugh out of.
Here at work, we hired a new employee. He's a native of India and was
living in Canada before coming here. He had come into my office to discuss
some maps that may be available.
After talking for awhile, he looks at my wall and asks "Jennifer who is
that??" He was referring to all the photos of Barney Fife I have hanging
up. I just started laughing and said " yeah, I guess if you didn't know who
he was you'd wonder why I have photos of some guy hanging up on my wall" I
tried to explain that he was a character from TAGS. I told him a little
about the show, what channel is was on and when. He probably still can't
figure out why I have photos of Barney on my wall. I didn't tell him that
my husband and I were married during Mayberry days and had two people from
the show in our wedding, I think he already thinks I'm a little nuts why
make it worse.

I just thought it was so funny he asked me that, I mean how do you explain
Barney Fife to someone that's never seen TAGS???

Have a Mayberry kind of day!!!
Jennifer

Hey To Goobers,
I thought I'd put in a vote for my favor-ite, I do so much like Mary Grace.
I mean "she's nice" and I can't think of anybody more deserving of the
adornment of a corsage!
If Gomer thought so, it must be true!
I would also like to comment on the "addiction issue" who's to say if
something is an addiction. I like to breath on a regular basis.... so I guess
I'm
addicted to air..LOL
"You Got Time To Breath" You Got Time For Andy!!!!!! (I probably Live and
Breath Andy:)
About the laugh tracks, I haven't had a chance to view any of my season #4
as of yet so I don't know for sure how it will come off without background
laughter but I have always, in the past, been able to recognize when something
is humorous so I'll no doubt laugh at the right time... I hope. (Sorry, I
couldn't resist LOL) No, I do understand the thinking here but except for the
fact, someone has been messing with our originals, I don't mind if I'm not
cued
in when it's time to smile or laugh. But.... I don't like anybody messing
with my originals, "My mother was that way too" just don't mess with my
originals!!

** NOTE FROM TAGSRWC HQ: Mr. Schwamp **

<<Actually, the name is "Schwamp." In the latest edition of Jim Clark
and Ken Beck's book "The Andy Griffith Show" Book they corrected the
spelling from Schwump to Schwamp because they found a script that had
the Schwamp spelling. The episodes and the scripts are the "bible" for
Mayberry spelling.>>

To clarify even further...Schwamp is the spelling used in the script for
Mr. Schwamp's first episode ("My Fair Ernest T. Bass"). In a later
script or two (such as "The Lodge"), the spelling can be seen as
Schwump, which is closer to how the name is usually pronounced. But in
our book revisions, we've reverted to Schwamp because that's the way
writer Everett Greenbaum created it. The later writers drifted toward
the more phonetic spelling, but we opted not to drift and are holding
with the original Greenbaum spelling.

Been over at the Dime Store doing a lot of my Christmas
shopping. You can keep the spending down to below $17.50 if
you mind the sales and use your coupons. Anyway, as I tell
Laura Lee Hobbs every year, let's just enjoy the Spirit of
the year more and not concentrate so much on spending.

Me and Laura Lee sure have enjoyed reading all your posts on your favorite
one-time only characters who visited our
beloved Mayberry. Now here's a somewhat different task. Who's your favorite
Mayberry character who's not so nice.

Yeah, you read me right.
See, Mayberry is filled to the brim with wonderful, upright citizens. And
hardly anyone can truly
be called a criminal. Even the three lady convicts were not what you could call
"hard core." I mean there was the
"convicted husband beater" but I guess the gal had her reasons. (Not that I'm
condoning husband beating.)
But just who would your favorite "naughty" person be? And why?
So, put on your thankin' buckets and have a set and see who
you come up with.
I just hope we don't have a run on Ernest T.

Lydia, I hate goody two shoes people; I don't mind a little naughty with their
nice people; but I hate sickeningly sweet people

I've been watching season 4 on DVD for the last week or so and until some
posted today about the laugh tracks I had totally forgot that they were
supposed to be missing. To be honest I can't tell any difference but I do
remember hearing a laugh track in one episode (altho I can't remember which
one) So I guess that the laughs are only missing from certain episodes.
I laugh enough watching them to make up for any missing built in laughs
anyways.

I've read several times here about the Season 4 TAGS not having a laugh track.
Were these recorded with a laugh track and without? I have this one and I've
watched at least 6 episodes and mine does have a laugh track.

I, too, think that Senator John Canfield was a Mayberryesque character,
gentle and good-natured. It was the perfect role for Charlie Ruggles who
played similar characters for all the years I remember him in films and TV.
Just a wonderful character actor.
