While I dearly love and enjoy Ernest T,I would have to say that my favorite
"bad guy" would have to be Mr.Weaver.Even though he did show his kind behind
the eyes side in the Christmas episode.

"It was sleeting yesterday and I was right out there in it." I hope you didn't
speed, speed, speed. I was in it too, made it tough to go over Turner's grade.
As far as bad "guys" go, I like the lady convicts and the brothers who Barney
tried to rehabilitate in Aunt Bee the Warden. There's just something about the
looks on their faces when Barney talks about the lives of architect, dentist,
violinist and dancer they could have lived if they'd been properly directed.
They seem to be contemplating the idea. And who wouldn't want to see Junior
dance?

Re: Were these recorded with a laugh track and without?
Shows which were not filmed in front of a studio audience (such as TAGS and
"M*A*S*H") used what is known as "canned laughter", which was inserted into
the finished product for broadcasting. Certain shows would screen the
episode for an audience, record their laughter, and then insert that
recorded laughter for TV broadcast, and still other shows were filmed in
front of a live audience (a practice Jack Dodson hated), and of course the
audience laughter was recorded as the show was shot.

My favorite "naughty" person in Mayberry is Emma Brand-Watson. Even though
she is a convicted jay-walker ( or was she ever technically convicted? ), she
has a lot of spunk for her age, and is independent and brave. She still makes
pies and holds her own against hardened criminals. She also enjoys " passing
along news. "
Of course, we don't know if that peroxide is really just for gargling!
