I saw Ed Sawyer on "Coach" this morning!
As for favorites in the not so nice category, I really liked that man who could
sing real well; he tried escaping from the Barbershop Songfest but realized how
good Andy was and returned. I like to think that he eventually was gainfully
employed in Mayberry and joined the town choir as well as the Lodge.

I haven't received the TAGS Season 4 dvds yet, (Santa is ready to bring them
to me, though), but I think I will miss the laugh tracks. I do think I'm
smart enough to know when to laugh, but the laugh tracks are something I'm
used to hearing, so I would rather that they stay in. My husband has MASH
dvds that allow the choice of a laugh track or no laugh track. We tried to
watch it without the laugh track but it was just strange to us. But still,
I am looking forward to getting Season 4 and all of the other seasons when
they come out. I just really do hope that the laugh tracks are included at
least as a choice! :) Lisa

Well when it comes to "Naughty People" in Mayberry, I was "appalled" by the
tactics of Oscar Fields and how he tried to swindle that sweet Mrs.
Mendelbright. I do hope he spent a goodly amount of time "in the Big House"
without
the luxury of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! Now as for "Hubcaps Lesh"
even though she was caught "red handed" by two famous lawmen, I can't help but
love Myrt. Maybe this is due in part to the fact that she was the Walton
children's grandmother in another life.
"Still" another of my favorites would be the Morrison Sisters.
Jennifer&Clarabelle meant no real harm. They believed in making beverages only
for
special occasions. I can't condone the making and or selling of such spirits
but
those two were lovable little ladies.
George and Gladys(Melissa) Stevens, had a shoddy scam going when they
tried to make poor ole' Barney think they were father and daughter instead of
the married couple that they were and with the intent of swindling our
favorite deputy! For shame!

Just saw Aunt Bee in an early episode of Dragnet (The Big False Make) . She
played a rich lady whose gardner was falsely confessing to a robbery he didn't
commit. What is really wierd is that she didnt get credited properly at the
end of the episode.
The character she played in the episode was named Hazel Howard and in the
credits it lists Hazel Howard played by Hazel Howard. Not sure if this was a
typo or if she wanted it that way. She really looks young on that episode as
well.

Saw another episode of Dragnet and it had Amzie Strickland in it.
As you probably all know she played in a total of 5 different TAGS episodes and
as 4 different characters.
Miss Rosemary, Otis's wife Verlaine Campbell, Lila Sims, and two epsiodes as
Myra Tucker.

Also after doing a little research on IMDB I found out Aunt Bee was on a total
of 3 Dragnet episodes and
was twice credited as Hazel Howard.

I agree with the selections of Mary Grace and Mr. McBeevee among one-time
characters. I would add the funeral home operator who also fixed TVs, Mr.
Tucker
the "man in a hurry," and Flip Conroy, the professional football player who
came home to help his mother run her business and coach football.

Naughty people? I like Ernest T and Ben Weaver but my all-time favorites are
the Fun Girls. "Hello, doll!"

actually that surprises me Allan, cause if you hear the characters talk
about him during the show, they call him Mr. Schwump

wonder why the difference between that and the books.

wonder if I hold the all time record of TAGS.
I got 16 6 hr tapes.
4 8 hr tapes.

3 of those tapes are uncut shows (w/o commercials)

That Captain Barker (Ken Lynch) of the State Police wasn't nice at all!
Professional but cold and indifferent, Captain Barker sure did try to make
Andy and Barney look like penny-ante law enforcement, what with his caustic
and snide comments. I for one am glad that Andy 10-4'ed him the way he did!
For Christmas, Captain Barker gets a lump of coal from me.

(So far I got Barney a case of Dr.Scholl's foot powder and for Opie, a
Wheel-O and a Johnny Unitas football!) ---A.A. MPk.

My favorite naughty person is Big Maude Tyler, aka 'Ralph Henderson'. Did
everyone see the look on Andy's face when the radio announcer said "aka Ralph
Henderson." Maude wanting to let the 'convicted husband beater' Naomi, curl
Al's hair with that heater.... One bullet and they're done. I laugh every time
I see this episode, and I must have watched it a hundred times through the
years. Naomi wanting to fight Floyd, and poor old Floyd pointing to his eye
glasses. "If these hamburgers are ruined I won't be responsible!" What about
Floyd sitting on the couch keeping time to the music with that banana. "Better
phone him Al."

My mind immediately runs to the Christmas Story and poor old Ben. While he
attempts to retain his cold attitude toward mankind (even at Christmas) there
is something about him that wins your heart. I look forward to watching him
every year at this time.

Hey fellow members, I have some Sunday humor here. How about Mayberry
citizens on game shows?? Could you see Family Fued, with the Darlings on
one side and the BASS family on the other? Wonder what Ernest T's family
would look like?
How about Barney, Aunt Bee and Howard Sprague on Jeopardy! Ohhh Alex,
I'll take cooking for One Hundred! Or Barn answering history questions.
Howard trying to answer romance questions. Who would win? Sure are a lot
of possibilities here. Of course, Aunt Bee would get a visit from the
IRS!
Well, have a good day. Cold and sunny n WI
