I have so many memories , and they keep piling up each year . I consider
myself the biggest fan. I started watching andy on a regular basis kind of like
alan, while I was in college. Tags would come on each day three times in a row
on different chanels and about three or four of us guys would just hoot and
hollar.I am a school teacher and coach and I always challenge my students to
trivia(black and white only)about the show , and if they can stump me I give
them extra credit. I have many memoribilia, hats mugs(im drinking from my
barney mug right now, coffee just taste better in your tags mug) I have the
hawthorne collection of the town, ties, liscense plate,t-shirts and I love it all.
I would love to converse with someone who shares my love for the show and would
like to trade trivia questions and stories.Well thats enough for now so "good
luck to you and yours from the great state of miss.
Tags fan forever!

Was watching a movie last weekend with Jeff Bridges, as a Yankee writer from
Iowa who travels west in the 1920's to absorb the culture, for his writing. He
winds up in Hollywood with a bunch of rowdy stuntmen. Andy was in this movie.
Any more info on it? I guess it was filmed around 1974, and Andy's hair was
already gray.

I asked Mr. Weaver about it and here's his reply.

Yes, we expect to be able to ship them orders on the day they are
released, Oct. 12. We plan to start taking orders online, by phone, and by mail
about
a week before the release date.

So just feel free to wait on Weaver's and "Shop Mayberry First."

I saw the episode in which Calvin Coolidge is mentioned a while back and it
got me to thinking (sans bucket) about how many actual historical figures
were mentioned on TAGS. I decided to start a list and this is what I have
come up with so far (I didn't include actors, Cary Grant for example, but I
did include a couple of sports figures):
1) Calvin Coolidge
2) Sigmund Freud (or Frood if you prefer)
3) Abraham Lincoln
4) Paul Revere
5) Wyatt Earp
6) Jack Dempsey
7) James Monroe (the Monroe Doctrine)
8) Robert E. Lee (natural bridge)
9) John Dillinger
10) Gen. Blackjack Pershing
11) Teddy Roosevelt
12) David & Goliath
13) Johnny Unitas
I know I left out a lot. Anyone care to add to the list?

In the show were Gomer moves in with Andy we see Aunt Bee with her hair down.
Are there any other times when her hair has been down? Any trained
noticers out there?

You folks who are too busy to slow dance, you might want to purchase one of
Jim Clark's books from Weaver's Dept. Store which will have every episode
listed. A quick flip and you will find each episode as it aired, with a
description and the writer's credit. These books will create an episodic
experience you should not miss......and as a coffee table rarity it will
provide conversational fodder for years to come......just don't invite any

My anniversary edition with autographs from the Dillards, Earle Hagen, and
many other stars holds its proud position right there in the center of my
coffee table.

Hello, i thought I might repost since we lost the board awhile back.
I too went to the Mayberry in the midwest 3 show and I had a really good time,
I got to visit with new friends and see the stars and meet them, even though
the autograph times were listed to end at a certain time they were still kind
enough to go past the time to meet fans and sign autographs.
I got to take a short ride in a mayberry squad car ( I sat near the window in
case i got car sick ) and made a new friend.
He was having car problems but he had it running when i left ,i guess goob must
have gave him a hand ( how he got it in the school building there i'll never
know )
Thanks Jeff.
I miss the old shows at Bob Schiebs place and wish he still had them but this
one was very nice too.

I'm so jealous, it sounds like y'all had a lot of fun. I think there needs to
be a Mayberry in Texas event!
By the way, since it's Don Knott's birthday why don't we work up a medal for
him. Something in rubies since that's his birthstone. And every off-key
singer can get together with the marching band for a rendition of "Happy
Birthday To You".

OK..I finally had one of those moments to report.
I went to lunch with a lady from work (I'm a man--I wear aftershave and
everything).
As we were ready to head back to the office, she said that she had to run an
errand and wanted to know if I wanted to come help her pick out a
gift...from a Jewelry store!!!!
Well I could just imagine Barney watching us go in there , and get the wrong
idea, and boy oh boy would I be in trouble. I didn't have the heart to tell
her why, I Just made up some excuse..but I thought it was pretty ironic. If
you think Helen could be grumpy...just imagine my wife when she heard I was
engaged. We're not talkin cracked eggs, ya know...probably my cracked
skull.
Did all you TVLand watchers see Mr..Schwamp last night at Mrs.' Wil-lee's.
That is about the best shot of his fine rug from the front, when he hands
over the rock.
Wise and still in one piece

I notice that the last 3 Digests have come out a different time each
day...so I think Goober has got the Digest hummin along OK, but the timer is
messed up. That sounds like a job for Emmett! Maybe if he whups on the
side a few times, it will start cuckooing at the same time each day.
Otherwise all those people that have coffee with their morning Digest, will
have to start having extra Mr. Cookie Bars around just in case.

I hope Allan knows how much we all appreciate him. Here's some ideas for
gifts for him:
* A week of Malcolm making his dinners and drawing his bath and driving him
to work. ( and drawing faces on his eggs in the morning)
* A jar of Miss Clara's pickles ( the ones with allspice! )
* A Saturday at Myer's Lake with his wife, while we all run his errands and
mow his lawn
* A gift certificate to the diner so he can have vienna sausages with tomato
puree and succotash!
* A jack knife
* A pie and a song from Mayor Pike's daughter
* A pack of seeds from Barney
* A ship in a bottle from Howard
* A penny that has been struck by lightning from Opie
* A bottle of the recipe, from The Morrison Sisters, to celebrate WBMUTBB
being fixed
and last, but not least, his own peanuts so he can jump up and down and make
his own peanut butter!

With Weaver's carrying the Season 1 DVDs of TAGS, I would encourage everyone to
wait and purchase the collection through TAGSRWC because it is like a gift that
keeps on giving. TAGSRWC supports Mayberry events and different charities
throughout the year and we have the opportunity to help make that happen by
purchasing there. Remember it is only $5 shipping per order, so you can order
lots of things at once and save even more.
Don't let valuable stuff like free balloons and gum (or shipping) influence
your decision not to help out TAGSRWC. One of the many thing I've learn from
watching TAGS is the importance of helping the right people, because the return
is always far greater in the long run.
