"In the show were Gomer moves in with Andy we see Aunt Bee with her hair
down. Are there any other times when her hair has been down?"

Aunt Bee's hair was down in the episode "A Feud is A Feud" in the scene
when Hannah and Josh come to Andy's house in the middle of the night
wanting him to marry them.

I was pleasantly surprised to find some bargain priced TAGS DVDs at our newly
remodeled Safeway store. Being in a hurry that day & since I intended to come
back, I didn't buy the 4 different ones that day. When I came back there were
only 2 left along with an I Love Lucy one. There had been quite a few of them
originally. Guess there were more fans here in my little corner of the world in
Oregon than I thought. I tried one & the theme song was included & the quality
wasn't all that bad. There were 4 episodes on each one, & at a price this
"senior" could afford.

Re: Andy was in this movie. Any more info on it?

Sure, it was "Hearts of the West" (1975). Jeff Bridges plays Lewis
Tater, writer of Wild West dime novels and who dreams of actually
becoming a cowboy. When he goes west to find his dream he finds
himself in possession of the loot box of two crooks who tried to rob
him. During his escape, Lewis stumbles on to the set of a Wild West
movie and through mishap and chance becomes a star of Hollywood
Westerns. Andy Griffith plays a movie stuntman in this pleasant film.

Thanks to all who replied. Yes, Harriet, I have all Jim Clark's books and they
are wonderful. I highly recommend them. But I had taped the 30th and 35th
anniversary shows off TBS and didn't have all the episodes indexed. But I found
what I was looking for so thanks to everyone and Here's hoping you all have a
Mayberry Day. Can't wait for the first season DVD's to come out. I'm already in
line...Skippy, a.k.a. Cathy, one of Mayberry's Fun Girls.

I never thought I would have a Mayberry Moment to report but here it
   goes.

I don't know how many of you have heard of the TORNADO that hit
Campbelltown, Pa. last Wednesday but we were in this absolute thick of
things. (What an experience that I would not like to live through
again). It was an F-3 tornado with winds of 200 mph. Well, my moment
happend when our electric went off (as expected) and we tried to run
our freezer off a generator. It had trouble running and finally had to
pull the plug to prevent damage. My wife said "you'll have to call the
man". When the electric finally came back on, I kept trying to get it
going to no avail and my good wife kept telling me to call the man.
That morning I took off and bought a new one to my wife's surprise
when the delivery men came to set it up. I hope Aunt Bee would approve
   of my purchase.

Youare the one for puttin' a glow in a man's day.

Hi everybody, I sure have missed talking with you all.

Bee in NC asked whether anyone could remember another time when Aunt Bee was
seen with her hair down?? The only other time I can remember it down was when
Andy, Aunt Bee and Opie were roused from their sleep so Andy could marry Josh &
Hannah (Carters & Wakefields). Anybody else remember another time???

With all this talk about the digest being down, I was wondering if any of you
all thought that Allan had decided that he was ......."Going to Nashville!!!!"
and that's why the digest was not available??? Then when the digest was up and
running again I got to thinkin' (with my bucket on of course) that maybe Allan
had just decided to "Call the Man!!" I'm just glad Allan was able to
straighten it out however he did it. Way to go Allan!!!!

I agree that we need to think of some more gifts to give him for getting the
digest running again:

1. Have Aunt Bee fix him a roast with purly onions... they would twang his
buds!!!

2. Pay Goober to tune Allan's car up for him. Of course that would be on the
condition that Goober doesn't take it apart and put it in the courthouse.

3. Buy him a bottle of disappearing ink.

4. Have Aunt Bee sing "Chinatown my Chinatown" for him.

5. Give Allan and his family a free dinner coupon for Aunt Bee's Canton Palace.

6. All of us go together and get him a watch with "digest" engraved on the
back.

Sorry if I made a "moulage" out of the digest being down.

And I echo that sentiment -- Happy 80th Birthday, Don! Our lives have
never been
the same A.B. (After Barney)! I know at least two great souls who were
born this day,
the other being my own father who would have been 92 today. He brought
our own, real, World of Mayberry -- even B.B. (Before Barney) -- to my
family and me
and life has been good.

There are so many little bits of TAGS that are just so funny that even when
they're taken out of context, they'll make milk come out my nose.

I saw one last night on the marathon and somebody used it in the Digest this
morning. When Charlene is chasing Andy around the Court House and just
before she catches him, she leans over the desk with that big smile on her
face and says "Huggie, huggie!."

Now why is that funny? I get the giggles just writing about it.

I never saw an answer to this question so here goes. Howard "Floyd"
McNear had one son, Kit. Until last year, Kit still lived in the home
that his father had owned in Studio City, CA. A few years ago, 2001,
about 6 of us had a chance to go by and visit with Kit at his home and
he showed us around. It was a really big day for me because it was
"Floyd's" house and since I impersonate "Floyd" it was BIG. Kit has
been wonderful to me and approves of my tribute to his dad. That means a
lot to me.

Kit is a BIG fisherman and works as a professional fishing instructor
for "Western Outdoor News." If you do a Google for "Kit McNear" you'll
see several video tapes of Kit instructing folks on fishing which can be
purchased.

Before the Digest went "down", I had written the following response to a
question and I don't think it ever made it out to everybody so here it
is again... -- Allan

<<But how about when the religious aspect is so often brought up here.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's great when it refers to TAGS and folks
describe spiritual instances that relate to certain episodes or
personalities on the show, but many times it's not even related to TAGS,
be it "dry as dust" or not. Seems what's good for the goose is good for
the gander, as well. Curious, curious.........>>

Hey Charlie Varney and all....

I'm glad you brought that up because I *do* step in when talk of
religion goes on too much.

As a matter of fact, I've stepped in so far as to create an entire other
mailing list JUST FOR religious talk. It's been around for a long time
and it's been automated since March 2001 using YahooGroups.com.

It's called "The WBMUTBB Prayers & Praises" mailing list. The Prayers &
Praises is a list on which folks can share needs, praises, and just
prayer support with other members of the WBMUTBB. It is a completely
separate mailing list from the WBMUTBB Digest so if any of you would
like to be a part of it also, email me and let me know.

   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Please email me directly and not
to the Digest...we don't want to clutter up the place.

I created the Prayers & Praises to keep the discussion of religion off
the Digest and to allow our fellow members a wonderful place to share
with one another.

I'm thankful to Charlie for bringing this up so I could remind all our
members about the list.

Hey Folks,

This isn't a bad idea so here's the plan....

If the Digest is ever "missing in action" like it was last week, head
over to the Golden Door of Good Fellowship.

http://www.mayberry.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl

There was a News Headline there telling folks the Digest was down but
most folks never visit our WBMUTBB members only area (Password: harvey).

http://www.wbmutbb.com/

It's a good place to go and see if there's a problem and to continue
visiting with one another while things are not working like we want 'em
to. It's also a great place to just visit with one another and talk
about things that are "off topic" here on the Digest. Drop by and visit
sometime...especially if there's a problem with the WBMTUBB Digest.

For anyone who, like me, has wondered about characters that were mentioned and
not seen - I have a sighting report. Last night I was was watching the news
and saw Al Becker. Apparently he moved from Mayberry and is now working for
American Airlines in Fort Worth, TX. Also he must be something of a big shot
since they interviewed him on TV. I thought you'd like to know, although this
information is probably much more meaningful to those who actually know Al.
