Allan, didn't Kit come to Joel Laird's Mayberry get-together in Alabama in
2000? I think I remember seeing him, even getting his autograph, and he looked
alot like his old man.

a few I was real surpised with... and I can't win, doggone it, I know barney
isn't in it, nor opie, but Goober Takes A car Apart is just plain unbeatable!

Thanks to everyone who sent me info on how to find Aunt Bees Grave. I
did go and found. it. It was easy to locate. It was nice place and two
women were over the way talking to each other the whole time like
people would be doing in Mayberry. I also found her house and of course
went to Mt. Airy. I had been there one other time but this time I got to
see more things. Thanks again to all who gave me info.

I was surprise, surprise, surprised when I read about Howard McNear's son Kit.
My husband's name is Kit and he is also very into fishing. His dream is to
become a professional guide. Everywhere I turn I find something in my life
somehow connected to TAGS. It's like being in the Twilight Zone, but in a good
way. Know what I mean?

Mayberry Actor Don Knotts Honored in W.Va. Home Town
Morgantown, West Virginia
The actor who played Mayberry's bumbling Deputy Barney Fife is being honored
in the West Virginia city where he was born.
Morgantown, West Virginia, is thinking of including a possible film festival
next year to honor Don Knotts, who celebrated his 80th birthday Wednesday.
Knotts lives in Beverly Hills, California, but is still mainly identified
with the role that won him five Emmys while appearing on "The Andy Griffith
Show" in the 1960s.
Recently, he's been performing in regional theater with fellow comic Tim
Conway. He's also done voices for animated Disney films, and is now doing the
voice of Turkey Mayor in the "Chicken Little" movie.

I haven't posted to this list in a loooooooonnnnnnnng time, but since I noticed
something last night that I hadn't noticed before, I was compelled to post.
While watching the "Pickle Story" on TV Land, I found an inconsistency or a
"continuity" problem. I assume that when Andy, Barney and Opie switched the
store-bought pickles with Aunt Bee's "kerosene cucumbers" that they put Aunt
Bee's pickles into the jars that came from the store, which had labels and a
different shape and lid than Aunt Bee's canning jars. But in the scene where
Barney gives a jar to the motorist from Oregon, it appears to be a Bell canning
jar like Aunt Bee used.
The more you watch, the more you notice (and the more obsessed you get).

I was wondering if anyone else caught the TV Land
glitch on the Top 10 count down last night when
they were talking about the Darlings? It was when
they put the spot on Doug while Andy was saying "he
played guitar, and make-up man, Lee Greenway played
banjo with the Dillards." TV Land got it Wrong!!!
As we know, Andy was probably refering to the fact,
that, he and Lee Greenway played with the Dillards
between takes, or off the set. The gentleman they
spotlighted was definitely Mr. Doug Dillard!!!
By the way, my husband and I went on a 30th
anniversary trip, which we'd planned for a couple
years, to friends in Deming, New Mexico. Weeks before
we left I was checking out the calendar of appearances
on the "TAGS" website, and saw that Rodney and Doug
Dillard were going to be at a festival--the "Huck Finn
Bluegrass Festival"--in Victorville, California, on
June 20th. So, we included that as a stop on our
trip!! We attended their "Mayberry Memories" session,
but, because of lack of space to sit or stand, (and
a somewhat rude lady wanting us,(and a few others she
was perturbing) to move out of her view, we didn't stay
for the whole session. But we really enjoyed the
concert given later!! They were on before Mr. Earl
Scruggs, so my husband, who plays banjo, was in heaven
for the day!! Got all 3 autographs on a banjo head!!
Anyway, a warm day, but, thoroughly enjoyed the music
and the tidbits they shared!!! (Do hope though that
we weren't the "Ohio tourists"Rodney Dillard was joking
about "pulling out in front of you" when he was
refering to "remembering what Mayberry was all about
when that tourist from Ohio pulls out in front of you."
Those California Drivers just go anywhere!! We're not
used to that in Ohio!!! Sorry Rodney!!
But,we did have a good time, and we handed out several
of our clubs' business cards, (we belong to the
"Dollar and a Quarter Club" in New Philadelphia. The
Name taken, by the way, from episode 2, "The Manhunt"
which proud to say was the 10th favorite episode in the
line-up!!) Even gave a card or 2 to the Dillards!!
Sad to say though, we were surprised to see how many
people out there had't heard of TAGSRWC!!! But, we
wore our club shirts and told anyone who asked.
Hopefully a few more from Ca. know now and will start
their own chapter!!!
Well, gone on too long!! Can't wait for "Mayberry
Days" in Mt.Airy!!

I haven't heard much on this list about Ron Howard's film "The Missing,"
(now available on DVD, in a 2-disc set) so I thought I'd offer my comments:
The film stars Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones, both of whom put in
outstanding performances. As in nearly all of Ron's films, there are also
small parts for Ron's brother Clint (as the sheriff) and father Rance (as
the telegraph operator).
The movie is a quasi-Western; it might be more accurate to label it as a
thriller which takes place in a Western setting. The film is very good, but
it is not for everyone (it's rated R). The plot centers around a gang of
vicious Indians who kidnap young girls to sell in Mexico.
However, even if you don't care for shootin' and guns and killin', "The
Missing" is still worth renting because the second DVD is packed with great
features, including about an hour of interviews with Ron. Best of all are
three short films Ron made when he was 15, which are included in their
entirety. They feature Clint, Rance, Jean (Ron's late mother) and Cheryl
Alley (Ron's girlfriend at the time, now his wife). Ron describes how he
made one of the films as a school assignment -- he was supposed to write a
term paper, but instead he interviewed an old cowboy in a nursing home, and
turned his story into a film and submitted it in lieu of the term paper.
The "old cowboy" was actually his dad; Ron made the story up!

For a looksee at what the packaging for the new DVD set will look like, go here:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=1958
The photo on the cover looks flopped to me--"flopped" meaning the negative was
turned around so that the photo is backward, like as seen in a mirror. Many
layout artists will do this to make an image fit what they want to do in a
design. However, train noticers will catch 'em. Note that Andy's part in his
hair appears to be on the wrong side of his head. Unless he had a cowlick that
day and Floyd made him part it differently!
This site reports no extras on the DVDs, only the shows themselves, which is
good enough for me.
Wow. Two posts in one day for me.

Take a gander!!!! tvshowsondvd.com has just added the cover shot for the
Season 1 Box set of The Andy Griffith Show. Check it out and read the
details. They list running time of the 4-disc set at 15 hours and 15
minutes!!!! Sounds like some bonus material will be added to our uncut
