Congratulations to Debbie Caruso of Clarksville, TN for finding a hidden
"Goober Goodie" on the Mayberry Emporium website. Debbie won a collector card
signed by George Lindsey.

She found the hidden page on the bottom photo of the "A Little About Me"
page (check out the snowman pin).

More "freebies" are there on the site. You just have to find them! Good
Luck!!

I hope to see you all in Mt. Airy for the biggest Mayberry Days EVER!!

Thanks,

Gary

I too have been watching the Perry Mason show, that the
Hallmark channel has started running every afternoon...

As Jason has noticed folks from Mayberry, so have I.
And boy, oh, boy,,,, has there have been lots of them! But
today's show, "The Crimson Kiss" was the best. There was
our Aunt Bee!!! And playing an aunt, no less...

The Perry Mason episode aired Nov. 1957 (TAGS was first
telecast in Oct. 1960). Ms. Bavier played Louise Marlow...

What a treat to see her!

Were the winners of the writing contest, "What Mayberry Means to Me," ever
announced?
It's possible that I missed these since we have had a lot of coming and
going in the past few
months. As thoughts and talk about Mayberry Days 2004 and other visits to
Mount Airy
begin to pop up more frequently, I'm reminded once again of friendship as
the greatest
contribution Mayberry and TAGSRWC have made to me personally.
Unfortunately, I
will be unable to attend Mayberry Days this year. I see that it's the one I
should NOT
miss! Enjoy!

Where is everyone going to look first for the TAGS episodes on CD sets?
Amazon? Wal Mart? Who do you think will have them first?

Thanks, Jim

Watched an episode last week that had John Dehner (Colonel Harvey) in it. He
played a ship building tycoon named "The commodore", and unfortunately was very
serious acting. I always thought he was a very funny actor, especially in
westerns. In this episode, also starring Robert Vaughn, he was killed. Maybe
his elixir could have saved him, it did wonders for Aunt Bee.

>"Our State" magazine featured Andy Griffith on the cover of
>their magazine on Oct 2003

If it's the same issue, I asked every place I went that might sell magazines
while I was in Mt. Airy last year for Mayberry Days. No one even knew of the
existance of such a magazine, much less the name "Our State". Not even at
the airport in Raleigh. I purchased my copy thru the mail as well. The
article is a beautiful tribute to both Andy Griffith and North Carolina. By
the way, the dog on the cover, Andy's beloved yellow lab, is named Charlene,
cause she's always climbing all over him and is quite wiggely!

Harriet, wiggely chickens and all......

For me, the highlight of the meal would be to offer the pastor a bite of a
partially eaten peanut butter and jelly sandwich! Especially good when given
by a little boy in a cowboy outfit.

Some of the episodes that took place in whole or part I can think of are:
When Aunt Bee took flying lessons
When she hosted the cooking show
Opie ran away twice
When they visited the Darlings
When Andy went to arrest the magazine editor
When Andy and Helen met with the publisher of her book
When they went to the rich folk's house
When Andy and Barney went to the Esquire Club

Two things come to mind. First, why isn't Andy sitting at the head of
the table? As head of the household it should have been Andy rather than
Barney sitting there. Second, Andy dropped what looked like a roast on
himself. Yet by the end of the meal as he is telling Barney "Good
Night" his uniform was clean. Did he get up & change clothes?

Yesterday I was browsing around at Tower Records in Annapolis, Maryland at
accidentally came across 'The Banjo Album' by Douglas Dillard. This is a newly
released "Special Extended Edition." There are five bonus tracks. Two of these
bonus tracks feature Billy Ray Lathum, another TAGS musical alumni from 'The
Country Boys', on rhythm guitar. The opening number 'Runaway Country' features
Billy Ray as well. 'The Banjo Album' is made up of traditional bluegrass
numbers but played by musicians who were influenced by rock n' roll. That kinds
of
adds another dimension to the music.
Just think, I went to Tower to purchase Baltimore Orioles tickets (which I
didn't get), and walked away with 'The Banjo Album.' Incidentally, The Dillards
made their LAST TAGS appearance on October 17, 1966, AFTER the Orioles
defeated the L.A. Dodgers in the '66 World Series. Put that little bit of
trivia in
your pipe and smoke it. Mitch?
