Hello Fellow Digest Readers

Well The Olympic games are just around the corner. There are always
these
little bitty countries that we've never heard of, showing up with very
small
teams. So lets have a little fun. Imagine that Mayberry is one of
those
little countries. Since our favorite town is timeless, the people
aren't
old, they are still in their prime. Who would be on the Mayberry
Olympic
team??

There was that professional football player who came back home to Mayberry.
He coached Opie's football team AND played the piano!

Hey Everybody,

I think there was a couple more people who made it big. Keezy Hazleton (sorry
if spelled wrong). The other person was the Senator that dated Aunt Bee in a
episode. Aunt Bee and Howard Sprague were on TV with cooking and telling jokes.

Have a Great Mayberry Weekend!

>>>What actor do you suppose played the most roles on TAGS. I think it had

Have been Allen Melvin? What does everyone else think? Teresa Elkins<<<

That's easy. Mary Lansing...look it up in your history book. Right there
is the book.
Bob McQuain is second and then I think Allen Melvin. Allen Melvin played
more major roles that the other two..but they had more bit parts.

And then there is Barney Fife, let's see he played
Mrs. McGruder
The Gambling Lady (with mean daughter in law)
A Mannequin
A Prisoner ready to bust out
A Bride
A big time gambler lookin for a poker game (Puddintame I think was his
name)
Dr. Pendyke a veterinarian

Mary ended up being Martha Clark but played various ladies, and friends of
Aunt Bee before that. 12 different roles in 15 episodes.

I've been a fan of DAYS OF OUR LIVES since college. Now in my 40's working
full - time, it's a bit difficult to keep up with the story, but I try my best.
Of course, Peggy McCay plays the role of Caroline Brady. Peggy was Sharon,
Andy's love in "Class Reunion."

Well, I was watching my tape this morning of DAYS from the past week, and
Caroline's son was giving her the business because he did not agree with her
being friends with a former love. Caroline (Keep in mind I see "Sharon"
everytime I watch this show) gave him the business back, and her last line to
her son was, "Put that in your pipe and smoke it!"

Wow...Mayberry lives on and on...

bus
driver and it got me to thinking ("go ahead take a think under there").

Bob McQuain is the champ, with about 15 different small parts in various
episodes. Mary Lansing comes in second; she played about a dozen different
Mayberry women before finally landing the permanent role of Martha Clark.
Allan Melvin comes in third, with 8 different roles in 8 episodes. However,
most of Allan Melvin's roles were pretty big parts, while Mr. McQuain and
Ms. Lansing often had very small parts, with only one or two lines.

The Aug/Sep issue of Country magazine has an article
featuring the Blue Ridge Mountains. One of the photos
is of Charles Dowell making pork chop sandwiches with
the following caption: "Andy Griffith's Mayberry was
based on his real-life hometown of Mt. Airy, NC, where
as a kid, he hung out at the Snappy Lunch. There,
Charles Dowell sells his famous pork chop sandwiches
as fast as he can make them."
