**NOTE FROM TAGSRWC HQ**

Because the upcoming release of the entire first season of TAGS on DVD
is of keen interest to many Mayberry fans, I want to let everyone know
that TAGSRWC's Weaver's Dept. Store will indeed be carrying the DVDs and
that we will ship them to customers on the first day that anyone is
permitted to do so. (The official release date has recently been
changed by Paramount from Oct. 12 to Nov. 16.)

We'll probably start accepting orders (online, by phone, and by mail)
about two weeks before the release date. (We don't see any advantage to
our customers in our taking orders earlier because it won't allow us to
ship to them any sooner. And we'll have plenty of DVDs on hand, so there
won't be a danger of our running out if we don't log your order 3 months
in advance.

We don't yet know what the Weaver's price for these DVDs will be. We're
still shopping for the best possible price that a group our size can
get. The suggested retail price is $40.00. Our price should be able to
be a good bit less than that price. I doubt we'll be able to get quite
as low as some of the huge-volume places like Amazon who can buy things
for less and, when necessary, even sell at a loss, but you can be sure
that Weaver's will have the new DVDs at the lowest possible price that
we can manage.

One other quick note: The Weaver's shipping dept will be on vacation
from Aug. 12 to 23. As always, we can still receive your orders during
that time, but they won't ship out until the 24th.

It's the one where Goober is having the contest at the service station, and a
print shop goof results in Floyd opening an envelope saying he won $500.
Problem was, Wally's couldn't afford $500. Floyd (or at least his double) is
seen wearing a houndstooth hat, driving a green '67 Mercury Comet convertible.

I was surprised to notice during a recent "Addams Family" marathon on TV
Land, Parley Baer also played a semi-regular named Mr. Henson. At various
times
he was a city commissioner, an insurance salesman, a neighbor, but always the
same character with the same name and always being driven to distraction by the
Addamses.

Hey Jeff, I believe that Floyd's convertible was seen in the episode where
Howard Sprague buys the barber shop. Floyd comes by the courthouse after he
had been to Mt. Pilot or Raleigh to see about moving his business there after
Howard raises the rent. Floyd talked to Andy for a few minutes while he was
sitting in the convertible, then Floyd drives off just about the time Howard
Sprague walks up.

In watching "Barney Mends a Broken Heart" last night, it occurred to me
that we do not see Thelma Lou's hair down many times. Can anyone think
of other episodes where we see her hair down?

The question of who should light the big torch is going to create quite a
moulage. Clara Edwards will say that since she always plays the part of Lady
Mayberry, she should be considered. Floyd will believe he should because you
can't cut hair for over 20 years and not learn something. The Mayor(s) will
believe their exalted position in town naturally makes them the best choice.
Aunt Bee will insist that Andy light the torch, and will become irritated with
anyone who says otherwise. Barney will mount a campaign to be elected torch
lighter and will have a truck with a speaker drive around town. Howard's
mother will insist that he not be considered since he is an intellectual, not
an athlete. However, some how within a 30 minute time frame the situation will
be worked out.

Kim - Wylie, TX

I don't know about Lydia participating though, the heat from the torch may
cause her to feel nauseas.

For anyone wanting a good set of DVD's, I got a good
set at a Dollar General Store. It's called "The Andy
  Griffith Show Collection-16 Episodes on 2 DVD's."
It's a special 2-pack DVD set, by Janus Enetrtainment.
It's in a blue box. It has such episodes as "Barney's
First Car" ,"The Darlings are Coming", "Mountain
Wedding", "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs", and "The Loaded Goat".
It has someone playing and whistling the tune, similar
to the real thing---not any of that phony music. And,
I must say DVD's are good quality.
(And for anyone interested, The Dollar General Store
also has "The Lucy Show", "The Beverly Hillibillies",
and "The Red Skelton Show" as well.)
I'm ready for Mayberry Days---got my tickets, and
have changed plans, so we can make it for the
  unveiling of the statue!!
    IT'S GONNA BE BIG!!!!

How many commercials were made with characters from TAGS?
I have seen three, Andy - Post Toasties, Andy & the Morrison Sister -
Post Sugar Crisps, and Andy & Barney with Post Grape-Nuts.
