Although my husband likes TAGS, he is not fanatical about it like I am.
However, last night we were watching the gold truck episode and he
noticed that in the scene where Barney gets inside the truck, his pants
were wet before he got in and then when they show him inside the truck
they are dry. I was so proud of him and told him that he now qualifies
as a "trained noticer"!

Howdy folks,

I've worked as a dee-jay over the years, and while I'm
no Leonard Blush, I hold my own on the air. The fun
part is the freedom to quote Andy after a good song
with "Oh, that was extra good!" and Briscoe Darling's
"Let your thumb hang lose and hang on! Uh-one,
and-uh-two, and-uh-three..." is a good lead-in.

I'm a Alabama native and all of my family there has a
long history of quoting TAGS. My cousin Kelly refers
to his wife as his 'darling person', we've all used
'citizen's arrest', and there are so many more. TAGS
is a part of our family.

Lord how I'd love to walk over to Wally's and get a
pop.

In another episode with the choir, Barney lip-syncs while (unbeknowst to
Barney) another fellow sings the solo off-stage. Maybe this is what inspired
Milli Vanilli!

Don't forget. Barney was the first person to diagnose "high stomach" in
the episode where he wore the neck sling to get taller. Then in the
field of psychology he advanced the theory of kleptomineracs,
compelsion nuts and schizophreniacs.

I noticed someone sent out a reminder to be nice to Helen in our posts. You
know I used to think Helen was pretty snippy at times, but, as a man, I
hate to admit it, most of the times she was snippy to Andy he DESERVED it.
I think the writers wanted to depict Andy at times at not to "sensitive"
like ole Barn (though he had his quirks).

The times that Helen got the most steamed was when Andy concealed things
from her, (like the fact the Lee Drake was a woman) was insensitive (like
when he referred to her as "Opie's Teacher" in front of Cousin Gloria, or
when Andy got his jealously up without having all the facts (like with that
blamed smart alek Frank and his Gradin' Manual). Now granted Helen
shouldn't have been sitting on the same side of the booth as Frank BUT in
most cases she was the one that just wanted a little respect and honesty in
their relationship. Andy often took the easy way rather that being straight
with her. (do I need to mention the Fun Girls?). How about not just being
up front and asking her about the Kansas City past episode???

In general, I think that characteristic of Andy represented the way men were
in that era (a little clueless..course that was before my time) when it came
to women's feelings. Sometimes he was that way with Aunt Bee as well. Of
course we men are a lot better now, right? Don't answer that ladies. I
think Helen was best when Andy was a clueless klutz. The late color
episodes which revolved around her rather that her relationship with Andy,
were interesting, but not as true Helen. So here's my challenge:

Name a time that Helen was snippy that Andy (or Barney or Warren or The
Darlings etc.) didn't deserve it.

Now be careful..this is on the edge of being negative, but we're just
talking about the character and what the writers chose to do with her. We
all love Helen, as she was Andy's favorite girl. I'm not pickin on Andy's
character either, because I am guilty of the same things as times (and
Barney often was too)....just making an observation. My theory...we
remember Helen's bad moods rather that the good, and that's unfair to her.
When treated right, she was a real dear lady.

I'm a man. I wear aftershave and everything, but this is how I "feel"

Maybe someone told the future better than the Gypsies????
I watched the episode about Opie's friends birthday party--Remember Stag or
drag, new blue suit)?

At one point there is:
A) Dancing to music at "Arnolds"
B) Ron Howard saying "Hey Ralph" to one of his friends (also
complimenting a girl on her dress)
C) A cool guy in the middle of the dance floor combing his hair, while the
girls all drool

Was this a precursor to Happy days? Arnolds Drive in, Ralph Malph, Fonzie
instead of Fred Simpson...think about it??
---------------------------------
Now as far as inventions, how about Ruffles Potato chips???
Remember Opie at another party saying, Hey I think I'll have some of those
"Groovy Chips" over there, think about it??

I was reading the Atlanta Journal/Constitution yesterday (Sunday) and
TAGS was referenced twice:

One was an article about Mac Hyman from Georgia who wrote "No Time for
Sergeants". The article contained a big picture of Andy as Will
Stockdale. Then there was an article by Karen Hill about the lack of
civility in campaigns for public office and it began..."Aunt Bee never
stooped to calling Howard Sprague a "pint-sized toady" in their hotly
contested race for City Council in ...Mayberry."
A TAGS fan for sure.

Hi .. I spent over an hour on hold myself, and also sent an email to Dell
Customer Care. I asked to have the order reinstated, with all promotional
discounts, and expedited with priority handling. I expect you will get an
email
sometime tomorrow. I'll call you between my appointments.
