All of this talk about Mayberry Days ....
Shucks, I'm always in Mayberry daze!
Maybe in 2005, I'll make it there again.

>>. I have seen the 2 shows that had the carnival in them (1)Opie
trying to win the razor(2)Jerry working at the carnival, over the last
couple of days and was wondering if this was the only time that TAGS had
a theme to it other than a story in the Black & White episodes. It
seems clearly like it's the same carnival in town and was wondering if
these 2 shows were filmed back to back? Does anybody know? Mite be a
good topic. Well got to go and am counting the days down until Mayberry
Days. Horatio (Kevin)<<<
Kevin, good insight. These are indeed back to back episodes 158 and 159.
I looked this up in the Definitive Andy Griffith Show reference by Robinson
and Fernandes.
They state about episode 159 that "this is a rare example of a continuation
of a previous episode the Banjo Playing Deputy"
No reference is made to the carnival set, but we can speculate that perhaps
is was there of the 40 acres lot for a movie being filmed???
These two episodes also serve as an ironic transition. They are the last
black and white episodes, but do not include Don Knotts as Barney Fife. His
last B&W was Opie Flunks Arithmetic.
---------------
I enjoyed the reminder about the Pinball Game in Happy Days called Nip-it.
I think I played that machine in my younger days...but I don't think it was
related to Barney..and "the Bud"
--------------
Interesting comments about Clara's house and the Ladies with their hats on
except Clara. A couple theories;
1) Barney's Mom was in the group, and had a hat-wearing' compelsion that
the other ladies respected. (she certainly wouldn't want anyone else to try
hers on).
2) They just came from church where Clara would not wear hers while playing
the organ.
--------------
Oops, that for the correction on my "Hurricane Ivan is headed for St.
Charles." yes it was Lake Charles, not St Charles...that would have made a
good storyline though 'cause it looks like that Storm would have followed
Ollie and Nora right to North Carolina. Think Ollie would have been
concerned about the gas mileage?

>>Wasn't Aunt Bee over at Clara's house the time that Opie snuck off to
football practice and Arnold practiced the piano in his place?<<
Thelma Lou..Mrs. Larch was the neighbor where Aunt Bee went to work on the
quilt. If it had been Clara..who was Opie's Piano teacher..don't you think
she would have been a little suspicious at his progress??

>>>Wasn't Aunt Bee over at Clara's house the time that Opie snuck off to
football practice and Arnold practiced the piano in his place? And Bee
could hear him through the window and was impressed with how well he was
playing? Or is my bucket not on straight?
I think that was some other friend's house. Clara would have instantly
caught on that it wasn't really Opie playing the piano.
Isn't it odd that when Opie plays, the piano is out of tune, but when Flip
Conroy plays it's not? I guess Aunt Bee has one of them new self-tuning
pianos.

Just got done checking out the Mayberry Days paper,
and was just wondering----nowhere does it say if Andy
will be there for more than just the statue dedication.
We've already made plans to be there, but, what about
the ones who can only make it later Friday, or the
parade?
--
They haven't promoted Andy being at anything other than the statue
dedication. If he's at anything else it would like Miss Ellie giving
Opie an ice cream soda with all the toppings , but to quote Andy "don't
over expect". Ice cream with no toppings is better than no ice cream
at all. "I ain't gonna say ain't anymore"
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Mayberry Days,
Jan Newsome

I'm just a couple over from "Floyd", in the navy blue shirt and khaki shorts.
To my right (your left), that tall drink of water is my partner in crime,
Tracey (Maudy). The two of us make up the "Shut Up Bernie, Just Shut Up!"
chapter of TAGSRWC. Unfortunately, we will not be attending Mayberry Days this
year, and we're just sick about it! It's the first time in 8 years that we
won't be able to come. For those who are going, have a great time and think
about us poor souls who can't be there.

With the collapse of parts of I-40 (east and west bound just inside the NC
line), my Mayberry Days plans are somewhat in doubt. (I am in Knoxville,
Tenn.) I can go I-81 to I-77 in Wytheville, Va., but I wonder what problems
they have had up that way. During the seemingly enless I-40 construction last
year (in about the same place), I did take the prescribed detour, good road . .
. don't see much of civilization . . . added a full 3 1/2 hours to my trip.
I'm going to study on it a bit. I wish I could just take the Robert E. Lee
Natural Bridge to Mayberry Days.
