Stay safe, Aunt Bee! And yes, I agree with you.... how lucky we are that we
are able to escape to Mayberry in times of all sorts of trouble! Even if
the "escape" doesn't take us outside of the four walls of our humble abodes.
Right now, I've "escaped" to that little Kramden apartment in Brooklyn and
Ralph is making his man-from-space costume for the costume ball tonight, at
the Racoon Lodge. I'm waving to ya in Mayberry.... can you see me? :-)

And away we go........

Shucky darn, I pouted all last week when I stayed in hotels that did not
offer TVLand on their cable systems (I wonder what causes that?). I left
town in anticipation of Ivan the Terrible and he never came a-knocking
here. But then now that I came back, Jeanne is hinting at a visit! We
just can't win the war of the weather lately. PTL we can escape to
Mayberry in times of trouble.

I live in Winston Salem and I have just came back form seeing the man, Andy
Griffith..It was Big... He talk of many things, but when he sang the Mayberry
Union Hign school song. I had goose bumps and a tear in my eye.I hope no one
noticed. The Darlings and Charlene sang Salty dog blues and Dooley. I could
not stay all day, but I will be there for the parade Sat. All is well in
Mayberry.

I'm with you, Bob Phillips, for National Mayberry Week! By the way, my
husband is Bob Phillips, too, and quite the TAGS fan. We now have 42 6-hour
tapes of TAGS; we've been recording it since we got our 1st VCR in 1984.

We can all celebrate this week as we watch our tapes and TVLand. Talk with
a Mayberry accent and eat apple crumb pie and fried chicken and johnny cake!

But I am thinkin' Mayberry thoughts. For all these years my family has called
me by a nickname that starts with a "B," but sounds a tad silly for a person
that gets special discounts on certain days. I started signing things "Bu---"
because, for my first birthday, my father made me a special photo album with
natural wood covers and the individual letters of my nickname glued on in
darker stained wood. By my second birthday, all but the "B" and the "u" had
fallen off. (But they remain, so the album is "Bu---'s" album and there are
pictures of me inside. You also have probably guessed the nickname by now.)

Since my mother (Bea) passed away at 86 last March, I thought this might be a
good time to start being "B." Not "Bea," that was Mother; not "Bee," that was
Andy's aunt. So hence forward, I would like to be known as "B. Taylor." Now I
only have to remember to answer to it.

Mau--, no,
B. Taylor
