TAGS readers,
The next installment of my novel "Murder in Mayberry"
hits http://www.dailyread.com Thursday morning. Read
and enjoy!
In the last 16 hours, I've watched 4 episodes from the
DVD set of season one. The sound didn't match the
lips in the first scene on the first episode, but
after that the presentation has been outstandin'! I
wish they had included a lot of extras, like on the
"Dick Van Dyke Show" DVDs, but really, my main
interest is the show itself, so these are great!
I've been writing for several years about my desire
for TAGS complete season sets. It used to be that
every time I would write such a missive to this august
digest, a person (who shall remain nameless) would
write me a personal and insulting letter about how it
was never going to happen and how non-intelligent it
was for me to even hope for such a thing. Kindof wish
I knew what happened to that guy. In the words of
Barney, "Who looks foolish now, Sheriff."
Sam

During the opening of last week's Saturday Night
Live, Darrell Hammond was going through some of his
impressions. One of them was "Don Knotts as Barney
Fife"! It was only a one-line impression, but was
still great!

For those of us who've been out of town and catching up, what is

Thanks, Jason Donner

Teresa I am so glad that your Pastor's Mayberry Dinner turned out so great. I
know your Pastor really got a kick out of all the festivities. Boy do you
definetly have your work cut out for you next year to be able to top this years
event.
Carol, that is a cute idea you had about selling your son's car by having
people call and ask to speak to Mrs. Lesch !!! I wonder how many people would
know the connection to TAGS, and go along with you??
(Allan, I hope this is okay to write this here) Carol, please tell your
children that we here at home are very proud of them. I can only imagine the
fears you have because I haven't had a child serve in the military, but I know
you must be so proud of them. Please let them know that we are praying for
them that God will keep them safe from harm and danger.

I'm just as happy as I can be! I just purchased my copy of the
Andy Griffeth- first season. For those who were asking about
locations carying it, Target has it for $34.99 and Sam's Club
for $24.46. I asked at Walmart the day before release date
and was told they were going to have it that next day but
the clerk I spoke to said her records didn't show what the price
was to be. So you should be able to find it at walmart too, as
well as Weavers. Every one go out and get your copy so we
may be assured of them printing the second season- OK ???
If you don't , You're under arrest!!!!!!

Okay Joshua, I took the quiz again several times.
The very first time I was Thelma Lou.
Then I was Aunt Bee.
Then I was Andy for the next three times. So I guess that beats my one
Thelma Lou and Aunt Bee.
I wonder what caused the change from female to male?
I wonder what causes that?
Curious, curious, curious.
Margaret
I guess I'm a mixture of all three.

Hello All!
I was watching one of my MANY VHS tapes of TAGS and happened to see
the episode Bargain Day, where Aunt Bee buys the 150 pounds of beef and
puts it in her freezer, only to have the freezer go on the fritz. It got
me to thinking(so I put my bucket on), and I started trying to figure
out how much she paid for the 150 pounds of beef. We know that Diamond
Jim's where she bought it from had sirloin steak for a dime cheaper than
Foley. I believe I saw a sign behind Mr. Foley in one of the camera
shots that said sirloin 99 cents a pound. Aside from that info, how
could we get a good idea of the price she paid? Does anyone know what
kinds of cuts make up a side of beef? Is there anyone out there who
knows how to cut meat(you think they'll ask me that?)or maybe knows what
makes up a side of beef. This might be a good group project for
everyone to get involved with.We could possibly get prices from some of
the items advertised on Foley's windows in some episodes. Sorry this
e-mail is so long!

Hello Fellow Mayberrians!
I just wanted to let everyone know that our first Mayberry Evening was
fabulous! We decorated our fellowship hall like the Blue Bird Diner and
painted building in Mayberry down the hall. It looked like you were
taking a stroll down Main st!! We had a wonderful dinner that included
fried chicken, white beans, green beans with pearly onions, mashed
potatoes, biscuits and marmalade and kerosene cucumbers. Our pastor was
in heaven!!! We also had a mayberry play afterwards and character look
alikes! We had 250 people come out for this event!! After it was over,
our pastor said he couldn't wait until next year!!! So I guess I better
get to work!!
It was definitely a fun weekend in Mayberry!!

If you were at Mayberry Days this year, you got to see the beginning
phase of the new Surry Arts Council amphitheatre where Andy unveiled the
replica TV Land statue. The next phase of amphitheatre construction will
begin soon and a fund drive has been started with the sale of engraved
Mount Airy granite tiles, which will be placed in front of the stage.
The cost is $150 (tax deductable) and you can have up to 3 lines of text
engraved on your tile. This is a unique way to support the arts and have
a lasting memorial or honorarium for you, your family, or even TAGSRWC
Chapter.
For details and an architectural sketch of the amphitheatre, go to the
Surry Arts Council website at www.surryarts.org. You can even order
yours online through their secure website.

I picked up a book is a bookstore yesterday, full of pictures. Its
called Indiana 24/7. It's the local version of "America 24/7"...and I
think there is a book for each state. Its that deal in May where they
dispersed a bunch of photographers all over the country to capture
snapshots of American life.
Anyway, this Indiana book has a nice picture of a small town store in
Cammack Indiana. Its been it this guy's family forever, (like Walker's
Drugs). It shows the owner in the store with all this stuff around that
he sells. BUT there is a Television on the top shelf that he is
watching. Guess what he's watching! Our favorite sheriff is right
there in glorious black and white...What a tribute to small town
America...aka Mayberry.

I took the quiz and I'm Ernest T. I just love him so I'm so pleased !!!
What really gave me a real laugh was Allan being Floyd!!Do you think it
could have been a fluke that he turned out to be the man he works so
hard to keep in our hearts and minds? Just had my bucket on and it
started to turn some rusty wheels I guess.I really love reading all the
great
things that are
on the digest.Keep up all the fun!!

Our Mayberry family has lost a dear friend today with the passing of Barbara
Forrest. Many of you may have met her or her husband Emmett, who is a long
time member of WBMUTBB and has his collection of Andy Griffith memorabilia
on display at the Mount Airy Visitors Center. Barbara was in the hospital
for many months with her family by her side and she will certainly be missed
by everyone who knew this special lady. Please keep Emmett and the Forrest
family in your prayers.
Funeral arrangements are currently being made for a 3:00pm service on Friday
at Grace Moravian Church in Mount Airy. Any memorials can be made to the
church or the Surry Arts Council.
