Somebody asked about what cuts you get off a side of beef, and since my husband
Dave is a meatcutter I decided to ask him. He said that your calculations
about the price being 89 cents a pound at Diamond Jim's was pretty accurate for
bakc in the early 60's. He said that with a side of beef you would probably
have 240 - 250 lbs of meat. He also gave me a run down on what cuts you would
get from a side of beef, so hear goes:

10 Chuck Roast / 8 Rib Steaks /10 Rib eyes / 14 New York Strips / 6 T-Bones /
7 Porterhouse / 8 Sirloin Steaks / 2 Boneless Sirloin / 1 Sirloin Tip Roast / 2
Rump Roast / 17 Round Steaks / 5 Boneless Round Steaks / 21 lbs beef stew / 7
lbs. Short Ribs / 1 Flank Steak / 1 Brisket / 4 Chuck eye steaks / 25 lbs. of
ground beef / 8 - 10 lbs of beef patties

Hope this helps you out.

Aunt Bee, just call the man...... Call the MAN!!!

OK, I just had to post this from a link to some old classic Hollywood
Squares quips. Here's Barney's answer to your question, hah

Peter Marshall: You've been having trouble going to sleep. Are you
probably a man or a woman?

Don Knotts: That's what's been keeping me awake.

Hey everybody. Has anyone heard the Food town (I know that it is Food
Lion, but I just hate change) commercial where they play the fishing
hole music to Thanksgiving dinner? You can't get any better to down
home Mayberry than that. I love hearing that commercial while the tube
is on. Well, got to go. Horatio (Kevin)

Hey folks,

Congratulations to Dennis Beal from Knoxville for being crowned "King of
Mayberry" on the John Boy and Billy Big Show this morning.

Dennis won very convincingly. He was answering the questions before John Boy
finished asking them!

He has won a vast array of Mayberry "goodies" and will be appearing on the
Big Show in person in the near future.

"All Hail to Thee, King of Mayberry". Congrats Dennis. You Beat Everything
(and everybody)!!

Gary
