hi all,
It is truly a sad day in Mayberry to hear of the passing of Mrs.
Emmett Forrest. I and my friends have been to Mount Airy several
times and been to the visitors center every time we're there. We know
what a very nice and kind hearted man Emmett is and we deeply mourn
for him. We also thank God that there is a better place prepared for
those who pass before us and await us to join them. Our prayers
sincerely go out to Emmett and his family.
God Bless
Michael

Hi all ,
All this talk of the TAGS dvd makes me anxious to recieve mine.
However I will likely have to wait for Christmas. I'm sure someone
will get them for me, but mine will come directly from Weavers, thats
where I do all my Mayberry shopping. I am excited about the quality
of these. I rest assured it will be excellent just lilke everything I
order from Weavers, after all supporting Weavers supports this digest
which is a hig point of my day.
God Bless
Michael

I received The Season One DVD in the mail yesterday and was beside myself
when I got home and found it! I ripped open the box and put the first one
in the DVD player right then! My husband sat and watched it with me after
he got up off the floor where I had pushed him out of the way trying to get
to the TV to put the DVD in :-) (Just kidding!)
Everything is OK in Mayberry!!!

Talk about being slow on the up-take, I'm just now commenting on "Normal
Schools." I saw Bee and Clara reminiscing about their days in normal school
together. When I was growing up in Illinois, the school that is now Illinois
State University was Illinois State Normal. It was located in the town of
Normal, Illinois; there is also a town in Central Illinois called Oblong.
(This explains how the town of "Normal" was named, but "Oblong" is a stumper.)
This all leads to one of the classic society page headlines of all time:
Normal Man Weds Oblong Woman.
Just a little journalistic humor.

For those who have missed it. Here is the link one last time to the quiz.
http://quizilla.com/users/mayberryman/quizzes/What%20Citizen%20of%20Mayberry%20are%20You%3F
The response to this quiz has been great...it has been taken almost 500 times!
For those of you that have gotten your season 1 DVDs, I would be interested in
hearing some of your reviews of it.

That would be episode 139 "The Darling Baby" where the Darling clan was
trying to get Opie engaged to Andelina. Barney had to recall a time
where he was almost a victim of a fixed marriage.

AW HAIL...to Dennis the King of Mayberry on the John-Boy and Billy Show. I
was very impressed. I was the first 5 time Mayberry winner on The Big Show
and had defeated John-Boy twice previously.
Chris, the gentleman that Dennis defeated in the tournament finals, beat me
like a drum.

"Carol, please tell your children that we here at home are very proud of them.
I can only imagine the fears you have because I haven't had a child serve in
the military, but I know you must be so proud of them. Please let them know
that we are praying for them that God will keep them safe from harm and danger."
I second that.

You want "The Darling Baby." Andy and Barney are discussing the marriage
which Briscoe has arranged between Opie and Andelina, which reminds Barney
of the time Halcyon's father tried to get Barney to marry her. According to
Barney, she was the ugliest girl you ever saw in your life.

"Which episode features Barney telling Andy about Halcyon Loretta Winslow?"
I believe that was "The Darling Baby", which is the one where the Darlings come
to town to "find a young boy to pledge his hand and heart to Andelina" and they
choose Opie. Barney is relating the situation with the Darlings wanting Opie
to marry Andelina to his situation with Halcyon Loretta Winslow and her father
wanting Barney to marry her.

"Yep. That's all it is. Mulberry squeezins."
(There are so many good quotes from this episode, it is hard to choose just
one.)

I was sadden to hear of the passing of Mrs. Forrest.
I got to meet and have my picture taken with Emmett
Forrest at Mayberry Days this year. He was very gracious
and kind.
You could tell he enjoyed talking to everyone
and sharing his extensive Andy Griffith collection, which
is awesome.
My thoughts and prayers Mr. Forrest
