You know, I tend to use phrases from the show without even thinking about it. I
have watched it so many times that it has become commonplace for me. My brother
and I will frequently describe a female with the words, "She's nice,..., real
nice" whether the person is or not. My kids have gotten in on the act, too.
"Nip it, Nip it, Nip it" is probably their favorite one. Me? I really love "Six
bucks a week and all I get is heartache!" ( I enjoy quoting that one at work!)
When I really want to annoy my spouse, I will quote one of Ernest T's lines
like "How do you do Mrs. Wiley?" She knows not to ask anything else of a
serious nature then. When I have to smooth things over, I just tell her that
despite her annoyance with me, she's still "Nice..., real nice!"
Happy Holidays to everyone!

Hello all,
I saw in a magazine today a little comic. It had a officer of the law
and a couple standing in their living room next to the Christmas tree.
The officer was writing something down on a notepad and he was saying,
"So he parked on your roof, entered through your chimney and ate all your
cookies?" I laughed and thought that must've been Barney! Well, what's
a cop to do when he's sworn to uphold the law? If Barney would give the
governor a ticket he'd give Santa one.
Ho Ho Ho!

Thank you to Anthony Sizemore, who responded to my post about the TAGS theme
for my cell phone ringtone. I now have it on my phone. If anyone else needs
the information, feel free to e-mail me off the digest at [EMAIL PROTECTED] .

Hi Cynthia, I seen your post on the digest regarding TAGS ring tones and I
got my TAGS ring tone at http://matrixm.com/
You have to join and it is fairly easy. I have a Motorola v220, but you do
have to have internet service on your phone to receive their ring tones.
But they have the TAGS one and it is great. I love it, and it's loud enough
that I can hear it ring in my purse. Hope this helps.
Happy Holidays to all our Mayberry friends.
ATTN...Debbie Miles if you are out there, please e-mail me @

back to me.

Watched "Perry Mason" again today. Lo & behold, if that
lady shoplifter wasn't at it again! The circumstances were
different but there was Ms. Sticky Fingers (Lurene Tuttle)
from Episode 117, once more in a department store stealing
items! She must have moved her operation to the west after
serving her time at The Rock....
I thought it was a hoot, her playing a department store thief
in two shows. Wonder if that's a Code 612?

Who has possesion of costumes, etc.? Universal? CBS? Andy's uniform could
represent TAGS. Barney's gun and holster? But they seem awfully bland.
Primary sets were the police station and Andy's home. I can't think of
anything that symbolizes either one. The bench outside? Is Floyd's barber's
pole in those shots? Andy's front porch swing and his guitar?

I think Andy Griffith himself has a number of items left over from the show. I
believe the courthouse signs were loaned to the Mt. Airy Visitor's Center by
Griffith, and the reunion special last year revealed he still has the gavel he
used in the courthouse. Best bet, if one really still exists, would be a
sheriff's uniform. They seem to make room for clothing, and did so for "the
puffy shirt" from "Seinfeld."
Larger items are where you run into trouble. The Smithsonian has the original
malt shop backdrop from the earliest days of "American Bandstand" and the
entire "Swamp" set from "M*A*S*H" (tent, signpost and all) but many of these
items are just too big to put on permanent display so they stay in a warehouse.
When I was there in 1981 the cell door from "Barney Miller" was on display,
anyone know if it's still there?
I sure wish that one known existing squad car was on display somewhere, but it
couldn't be on display at the Smithsonian.

Hey Woody, I bet we'd all enjoy reading your thesis on southern culture but if
it's too long to post, I understand. In any case, congrats on your outstanding
grade. If anyone has those ringtones, please include me for that info. I have
not had any luck trying to find them either. Much obliged, Aunt Bee of Orlando

Gosh, lots of ideas come to mind for "which TAGS item should be in the
Smithsonian". 'Course, that place is getting a mite crowded with all the
pop culture stuff, so we could probably lobby for just ONE item. Here are
some ideas, though:
--Andy's fishing pole ("Eagle Eye Annie"), one of the most recognizable
pieces of TAGS memorabilia, given its presence in the opening credits of
each episode.
--A jar of kerosene cucumbers..er..sorry...Aunt Bee's pickles
--the squad car (although it's probably too big to display)
--Andy's badge and/or Barney's badge
--the motorcycle and sidecar (if the Historical Society would agree to part
with it)
--a Mr. Cookie Bar
--Floyd's barber chair
--Goober's beanie
--Gomer's purple tie with the acorns
--Mary Grace's corsage
--Opie's bird cage
--the ol' "salt 'n' pepper"
--a menu from Morelli's
--Helen's book
--Old Sam (I 'spect he's stuffed by now)
--Howard's ship in a bottle
--a band uniform (if Clara and Aunt Bee can remove the mildew)
--Mr. Darling's jug
--A rock from Ernest T. Bass
What would be REALLY cool is to have "The Fishing Hole" song in the
Smithsonian. It could be a piece of audio trivia, rather than a tangible
object.

Monday night my classmate Katie and I went to Mountain City, TN to
film the Johnson County H.S. and Unicoi County H.S. Boys and Girls
Varsity basketball games. We stopped at a gas station at the
intersection of US 421 and TN 67 to ask for directions to the High
School. Anyhow, on the front window of a food display case, was a
TAGS picture...featuring the Police Car (with the front to your
right), Barney standing behind the car at the driver's door. The car
is situated in front of the Floyd's Barbershop and Andy is seen
sitting in the chair. Anyhow, in the back seat of the cruiser is
Saddam Hussein.

I have a Samsung S307 phone and I have The Andy Griffith Theme as one of
caller groups tone. It is very good quality.
The site I found wasn't easy to get the tone downloaded from, but it is the
only one I have found.
You must have web access on you cell phone, and be a little more than a
novice on using it and the internet.
It requires you set up an account, and you have to buy "credits" with either
a credit card or a Pay Pal account.
I recommend only the Polyphonic tones from this site.
If you want to go to the site I suggest you read all instructions very
closely, and utilize the "Help" links as well.
The site is--
http://matrixm.com/
Click on the word "Ringtones" soft key link icon, and do a search for "Andy
Griffith".
It will allow you to play them first. They have one that whistles the theme,
but it will only download 4 seconds of what you hear. That was
disappointing, but the Polyphonic one was very good also.
If you try this and find the tone you would want, and your phone is
compatible, you will be as pleased to get the tone as I was.
Ring Tones are like the weather......Everyone complains about it but nobody
does anything about it.
Calvin Coolidge? Nope, Mark Twain.
