8) Andy interview on CBS this morning, with first time camera shots of his
spread on St Mateo Island (correct?)
Actually, his home is in Manteo on Roanoke Island, NC.
Not too far from Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills, site of the first flight
by the Wright brothers, who were the right brothers to do this!

I got through to the voting section with the help of a friend in TX. 2
TAGS things to vote on. I voted Gentle Ben as best Fauna (Clint Howard
is a TAGS alumnus & he starred with Gentle Ben) & my write in vote was
Ronnie Howard as best child actor.

I still think best crimestopping duo should be Andy & Barney. We wuz
robbed! They must have been good as Mayberry was virtually crime free!

>>> There's a wonderful old Hitchcock episode called "Lamb to the Slaughter"
where Barbara Bel Geddes kills her husband with a frozen leg of lamb and
serves it, by then roasted, to the policemen while they are searching her
house for the weapon.

There was also a funny episode of Wings, where the gang heard about an old
murder case where a woman killed her husband with a leg of lamb, and
wondered if Fay might be the killer.

Perhaps there was a TAGS fan on the Wings writing staff. In another
episode, they re-used the old gag from the TAGS pilot eipsode about a person
being buried in a rented suit (the gag was old even in 1960!)

>>>...Anyway when Gomer gets to the part where he talks about cooking the
bird, does Barney say "To a turn" or "With a turn"?

It's "to a turn," which according to dictionary.com means "To a precise
degree; perfectly." Gomer uses a variation of the phrase in "Andy Saves
Gomer" when he says "And there I'd a been, burnt to a turn, my life snuffed
out, completely dead!"

>>Well I probably missed some, and everyone will have their opinions of the
order...but all in all I'd say it was a pretty awesome year for our favorite
show.<<

I have an idea...looks like we should just make it a Top12. Allen gets his
own spot and there is room for one more....Andy releasing "The Christmas Guest"
both in cd and in book for this past Christmas season. The cd has brought me
many joyous moments this past Christmas season.

My word! It's time for me to be starting the beginning of the year inventory
on Aunt Bee's pickle stash!

Hey Everybody!

Next thing I knew it was Happy New Year too!!!

Congratulations to TAGS on being voted in the top ten of best CBS events of
2003. TAGS rated number two the week of the Reunion Show. TAGS is still a
powerful influence in American life. Politically speaking, I think the Mayberry
Party is tops. This past year was a good year for TAGS.

I can't help but end this message about last night. December 31 was a good
night for the Arkansas Razorbacks. The HOGS won the Independence Bowl against a
good Missouri Tiger team. The score was Arkansas 27 Missouri 14. This was one
trip when Arkansas fans enjoyed going to Louisiana.

Ya'll beat everything you know that?

I have a theory about where Thelma Lou works. Clue # 1: We know she works
in an office as she once said that she had to get back to the office. Clue #
2: She never works on Tuesday night because she and Barn have a standing date
to watch TV. Clue # 3: She is always wearing a nice dress, so it must be
somewhere where she needs to always looks presentable. Clue # 4: She and
Barney
first met at a funeral. So my guess is she has an office job as the
receptionist at the Mayberry Mortuary on Main Street. When they don't have a
funeral,
which seems to happen very seldom in Mayberry, she can always help sell the
TV antennas.

Hi All....Not to be too obtuse (I really hate people that are obtuse) but
someone listed a top event of 2003 as having Rt. 59 named for Andy Griffith.
I believe that was done on or about Oct. 12, 2002. Had the bucket on and
had to bring it out. Happy New Year to all my neighbors in Mayberry!

Amy, that's a cute list of how to know your a TAGS fan. I have one more:
In the normal conversation of daily life you constantly use TAGS quotes,
mostly without even thinking about it.
Though TAGS is #1 to me I do watch some other oldies and am sometimes
curious as to when they were done so I check the copyright date. New Year's Eve
I
noticed that the copyright date for the final episode of TAGS was 1967. I
thought the series ended in 1968. In the beginning episodes each year was dated
for
the year it showed as well as many other oldie shows. Does anybody know how
that works?

I was reading the book that come with The Very Best of Eagles, CD. When I
was reading about the song 'Midnight Flyer',
Don Henley, said that he was a big bluegrass fan. "The Dillards, in
particular, had an enormous impact on me."
Don also said that Doug Dillard was a top banjo player.

It just goes to show, you never know when you will come into contact with
something Mayberry.

My sister who is a TAGS fan gave me "The Way Back to Mayberry, by Joey
Fann", for Christmas.
I gave her "The Christmas Guest, by Andy Griffith". This is the book and
CD. One of the songwriters was Grandpa Jones, a great banjo
player himself.
Grandpa Jones was on HeeHaw and so was George 'Goober' Lindsey.

In the episode when Gomer stays with Andy, Opie and Aunt Bea due to getting
himself fired from Wally's, they listened to or watched a program about Shep
and Dave. Then later in the color episodes, when Howard stayed for dinner and
the travelogue was on about the Carribbean Islands, it was clear that Andy now
had a tv set. When did he get this in his home and was Shep and Dave a radio
or tv show?

Hi friends,
A few days after Christmas, my sweet wife and I were
standing in our closet looking at the now empty
shelves where she had hidden our children's Christmas
surprises. She commented, "My, the shelves seem so
empty now." And of course you all know what my reply
was, right? "Yes, but didn't our Christmas tree seem
nice and full?!"

Peace and blessings to you and yours,
Kirk in Flower Mound, Texas
